no email I assume? What major did you apply under?
I’m not sure because we won’t even know if we’re admitted! @Orangered123
yea I would go if I knew I was admitted.
Sup people. How’s the wait going? I’m dying XDD ( ゚ヮ゚)
I live fairly nearby, south bay. It wouldn’t be too hard for me to go, I’m just worried that it’d be a somewhat waste of time. And like @doihaveashot2016 and @bigvoot said, it’s extremely frustrating that Cal Day is a week before they post decisions. Especially since people have said that Cal Day is for both freshmen and transfers. Any reason why they do it like that? Seems counterintuitive.
I think cal day is meant to be for everyone, they say it is open to the public. But yea I don’t think I’d go, if I get in I’ll probably visit sometime in May.
This wait is slowly killing me. I’ve been refreshing the admissions portal and this forum all day. 9 more days. I want to get in so damn badly.
Aw you’re lucky you live nearby! @Orangered123 I live about 5 hours away. Honestly, they should plan it out a little better because it doesn’t seem fair! I even called the Transfer Center and asked if they had a transfer open house kind of thing and he said no. I then emailed someone working with tours and asked if their newly admitted freshmen tours were available to admitted transfers and he replied:
Congratulations on getting accepted into UC Berkeley! In regards to transfer events, you are more than welcome to join the newly admitted students tours that are available every day at 11:30 am. These tours are focused on the first year experience at UC Berkeley, so majority of the information will apply to you. Unfortunately, we do not offer a specific transfer day, however Cal Day (campus-wide open house) is coming up and there will be a handful of events just for transfer students! Go ahead and follow this link (http://calday.berkeley.edu/events.php) to search for the Cal day events that you would like to attend on April 22nd! You can also reach out to a coordinator from the transfer and re-entry center on campus, to see if there are more in-depth events that you can attend if you are unable to make it to Cal Day. You can find their information by following this link (http://transfers.berkeley.edu/).
First of all, “Congratulations on getting accepted into UC Berkeley!”?? What?! Clearly they’re not very in tune with the transfer students, if they don’t know admissions haven’t been released yet. Anyway, thought I’d share. Hopefully some of you will find this helpful.
Hi all,
I am freaking out because I didn’t take a language class at CC – I thought my 5 in AP Spanish would suffice, as did the counselors.
I just found out they only take it as credit?
Do you think the computer automatically rejected me because of this? Or did anyone else not take a language for the college of Letters and Science?
@csssa13 If you took three years in high school, you didn’t need to take one at the CC
A foreign language satisfies IGETC, your CC should reflect your high school proficiency. Berkeley will only admit if you will complete full IGETC or breadth by the end of the spring semester prior to fall.
Since you didn’t take a language at your CC you will have compensated for the lack of units by taking other courses to reach 60 transferrable units.
@doihaveashot2016 I agree. It’s terrible coordination for them to do this. Either push Cal Day back for the weekend after or release the admissions results earlier. I hate this limbo situation we’re all stuck in. 9 more days.
I read on the other UC Berkeley transfer thread (who’s bright idea was it two have two? Couldn’t they have redirected on to another?) that they might post it around 3-4 to 5 on Friday? Can anyone confirm or deny?
Kinda irrelevant, but for all you Gorillaz fans, they’re releasing their long-awaited new album on April 28. If I’m not offered admission (which hopefully I am lmao), I’ll still have something to look forward to and cheer me up~
Did anyone apply to privates?
Oh wrong thread. I think this should be mentioned if it hasn’t already. There are two Berkeley transfer threads. Here’ a link to the other one.
Where’s everyone going to be at 5pm next friday? I’m going to be going home on the bus between 4-6 so I’ll be refreshing the page on my phone over and over. If I end up getting in I’ll probably get up, scream in joy, do a short dance and sit down in embarrassment. If I don’t I’ll probably stop by a store, buy some food, pick up La La Land since it’s coming out on redbox on the 25th, go home and watch the movie while eating ice cream and/or other food.
Anyone knows among UCB and UCLA which one has better architecture undergraduate program?it seems like UCLA is harder to get in, but honestly I don’t think their program is better than UCB…I didn’t even know they had architecture program before I applied, and there is almost no major prep courses…However, they do require creative works which UCB don’t.
@Orangered123 I’m going to be right next to you, reacting in the same way as you.
I would say UCB is often higher ranked whatever that may mean. However both are just okay in the bigger picture lol. They both are only 4 year liberal art degrees where a true Architecture degree is 5 years. Cal Poly SLO is actually ranked one of the best if not the best architecture program in the country, rivaled only by Cornell. Other notable California architecture programs include: Cal Poly Pomona, USC & Sci-Arc. Not trying to discredit UCB or UCLA in anyway though, they are great but as a result you’ll have to get a masters degree to be competitive. UCB has a great grad program.
I’ve applied to UCB this round to go to the School of Environmental Design as an Urban Studies major, so it’s cool to see someone else on here interested in a similar field!
I’m afraid I forfeited my chance to get in because I didn’t see the engineering form I was supposed to update when I updated my fall and winter term grades.
