Yesterday, some people received “still under review” email and some others received “hold on decision will be coming” email. Any idea how to understand the difference?
@Lindaya I believe they’re the same email:
Dear [name],
We realize you’ve been anxiously awaiting your decision from UC Berkeley and want to let you know that your application is currently under review.
While you may have heard that a few applicants received notification of their decision, the majority of applications, like yours, are still under review.
Freshman decisions will be released approximately late afternoon / early evening (Pacific time) on March 30, 2017, via the MAP@Berkeley portal.
It both mentions that your application is still under review, and that most applicants have not received a decision.
If i score over 90 points, i need to get A as US GPA.???
Our school no offers letter grade , only offers % grade out of 100.
@Faultystart Yes this is the email. ok good~ Thank you!
Hey guys! I haven’t gotten anything, Berkeley is my dream school. GPA unweighted 4.0 GPA 9-12 4.46, GPA 10-12 4.66, class rank 3/300, ACT 31 composite (34 reading, 34 science, 30 math, 25 english), SAT 1390 (760 math, 630 english) AP scores 4-Environmental science, 4- Ap Lang and Comp, 3- Ap Spanish culture plus took two sources are local Junior College) currently enrolled in AP Spanish 5, Ap stats, AP calc ab, Ap computer science, AP macroeconomics. 100+ hours of community service. two sports every year, 15 hr/week job year around since sophomore year. What are my chances?
@heyaaaa are you OOS, because the average admitted OOS ACT is a 33 vs. an instater’s average of 31

@heyaaaa I’m also pretty sure this isn’t a chance thread
@sostressfuldang @mistnight8 do you guys know how important SAT SUBJECT TEST scores are in the decisions process? i know that the UCs only recommend them but i didn’t do particularly well on them. ( 700 spanish 690 math2 and 650 physics) l. i honestly don’t know why i scored extremely low on the tests since i would get scores in the 700-760 when i did numerous practice tests and did exceptionally well in these classes. I have a 4.65 GPA, rank in the top 10% of my senior class, 31 ACT (33 superscored), 4s and 5s on my AP tests (taken 5 exams so far and taking 7 this year), and my ECs and essays pretty strong. Already being enrolled at Cal, do you guys know if the school or just the UCs in general place much importance on it? I am so scared that the SAT Subject test scores will jeopardize my chances of getting in! Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
i also received a LOR request from Berkeley
So I’m assuming that everyone got the email from Berkeley on Friday?
@m@meddude101
I didnt get email from ber.
@gigi888 They don’t matter in the least bit. These days, race/external circumstances seem to matter much more. In fact, they are a waste of both your time and money.
Btw, AP test scores don’t matter much, they are only for credit.
And if anything, you should be worrying about your ACT score.
@gigi888 Whats an LOR Request? cause I got accepted with regents interview and I could let you know but I dont know what that is.
Lor is an letter of recommendation.
I just got a Regent scholar interview update. I’m wondering why and what qualifications they even looked for? Is it also based on location? I’m from the bay area
Also, no LOR request, applied Econ major
My stats are (34 ACT when I applied, 2190 SAT when I applied, 790 SAT History, 780 Math II, 770 Bio, 4.0, 4.3 W)
Extracurriculars were all surrounding politics theme. Essays were really metaphorical and kinda intellectual but borderline cheesy. I doubt they look at essays that much thoe. (ie: I accidentally wrote about being an anti-gun control enthusiast. I meant anti gun violence enthusiast but I mixed those words up)
Lol, I didn’t even know early notification was a thing, but I just randomly checked my email and saw that I was accepted into EECS!
@coolcheesebagel Congratulations! From reading a lot on CC I get the impression that many of those who are accepted for Regents at Berkeley also get acceptances from Ivies and other elite colleges. They all look for the same types of high achievers. I think the Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship is their way of wooing those applicants to go to Berkeley. OOS applicants also can get this award. Btw, from your report and others, I think the LOR requests were mainly for those in the “maybe admit” category, not the “maybe Regents” category.
Is anyone going to the Overnight thingy? The link is at the bottom of the regents letter.
@VenomBuds - My DS is going and also another kid I low from this site.
