Oh ok cool. I’m going as well
@VenomBuds - Are you in state or out of state? when is your faculty interview?
As a parent, when we submitted UC applications, we were really hoping our kid would be able to attend UC Berkeley or UCLA (probably would have gone to UC Berkeley if our kid was accepted to both), but now that our kid unexpectedly got accepted to Stanford REA, the financial issue and the fact that UC Berkeley’s policy is not to allow a gap year have become important. Has anyone ever obtained a permission for a gap year from Berkeley while deferring admission to UC Berkeley for one year?
I am in state, my interview is on February 24.
@gigi888 Subject tests are very important for engineering at UCLA and UCB. You are very unlikely to get admitted without science and math subject test scores at those two schools (again, for engineering only). Other majors they don’t have much influence, but if the scores are very very good, they can help. If not so good, they don’t hurt you.
@CADREAMIN oh ok, thank you so much!
Stanford considers UC Berkeley and MIT their greatest competition. Same talent pool is wanted by all 3.
Does anyone know if you need to (or should) bring letters of recommendation to the Regents interview? If so, from whom should the letters be? I didn’t receive an initial LOR request so they don’t have anything on file.
@preppedparent lmao all schools I have no chance of getting into
@driven280 No you shouldnt.
@JuicyMango Don’t count yourself out. College admission is like a roller coaster full of highs and lows. You’ll get into some schools you never thought possible and rejected by some you thought were a given. Hang in there.
@preppedparent Thank you for those encouraging words :). It really is a roller coaster. Hoping for at least one uphill come March.
@JuicyMango have no fear, it will happen. I’ve been thru it twice with my kids. There are sharp corners, and lots of twists and turns. In the end you will be surprised and will get into some great places. Yes, it will happen.
@preppedparent I really hope your comment holds true for everyone
@VenomBuds I’ve only been thru the process 3 x (mine and two kids), and it held true for each of us.
Will we also get our acceptance letter in the mail?
I saw that many people were admitted to EECS, does that mean EECS had already filled out every spot that they will not admit any other student later on?
In addtion how do I know if did I received a LOR? I was afraid that the LoR was put into the junk mail box and was deleted automatically by the system without notice. Yet I recived a letter asking for an initiaview.
By the way could anyone help me evaluate my chance for UCB EECS?
I am international.
My SAT was 2340 and my TOEFL was 110, SAT Subjects Test was really low (780 Math 740Physics 680Chem), that I think SAT2 might really hinder my application. I do not have APs and my GPA was 4.0
My ECs were average I think, and don’t have many activities on STEM and Computers, which I thought might be a disadvantage.
So could anyone help me evaluate it? I think that UCB is actually a high reach for me that it might be nearly impossible for me to be admitted. But is there any chance for me to get into the CS program of UCLA or UMICH or GT? Unexpectfully I was put into the waitlist of UIUC’s Computer Science, which really made me lost all my confidence
@HLIU0809 I’m in EXACTLY the same position as you, except I applied to CS in L & S
Guys, an upload materials thing appeared on my status thing. Am I suppose to upload anything because Cal hasn’t said anything.
wait nvm, I wasn’t reading clearly.
