*****UC Berkeley 2021 Applicants Thread*****

From your link our high school shows avg admit GPA of 4.25. I’m guessing that’s a UC GPA and the fully weighted (uncapped) GPA is actually higher?

@Banker1 That’s what I think at least for the stats shown by the link. I do know that UCB and UCLA consider the uncapped GPA for their admission though.

I know for a fact that I have the highest UC GPA out of anyone who applied at my school; I have test scores to match. No LOR request either. I wasn’t expecting anything since the admit rate is 16%, but I’m in state and I can dream!

@ap012199 If that’s the case and your school has been getting more than a few people into Berkeley each year, you are a shoe in IMO … but then again USC decisions made me think anything can happen. LOL.

Also, the link I put hereabove only shows up to 2015 and I heard that UCs have accepted more in-state applicants in 2016 and will continue to do so in 2017. That’s good news for us in-staters.

According to the Berkeley link my they get 37 applicants from my school and accepted 20. Maybe I have some hope??

@sjl1826 thanks! The acceptabce rate to Berk from my school last year was around 28% and the acceptance rate to USC was 46% lmao. We’ll see in two days!!

@astrophysicistx That figure was from 2015 and it has been increasing. So if you are definitely in the top 20 students at your school, you are more than likely getting in. Once again, just my opinion. My predictions for me and some of my friends worked out the way I thought for all the other UCs.

@ap012199 Good luck! Hope we all make it!

lol my school sucks. The API is like 3 or 4 and I don’t know of anyone that has been accepted to berk in like 7 years. I have the highest test scores + GPA at my school and in the county, but it’s fairly average for Berkeley according to their website. I’m hoping this helps me rather than hurts

@sjl1826 Ooh good! I’m in the top 5% so maybe I do have a larger chance than I thought I did after the UCLA waitlist

@astrophysicistx I hope you get in. If you were waitlisted at UCLA, I’m sure your stats are excellent. No one will know for sure but you have a great chance to get in … unless you applied to like EECS or something. LOL.

Lmao to be in the top 5% at my school you have to be one of the top 4 students

8-X 8-X

me everyday

@sjl1826 thanks hope you get in too

My Asian counsellor said I have no problem getting into UCB while my White counsellor said the chance of me getting in to UCB is less than that of UChicago… Wondering who I should trust smh

@y11bwk not sure what their races have to do with anything but okay

Hi guys, how much does first gen college student status play in the admission process at berkeley?

@Yacht998: If you refer to UCB’s common data set, First generation is considered but not Very Important like GPA/HS course rigor/Test scores or essays and not Important like EC’s/Volunteer/Work Experience or personal qualities.

@uclahopefull Asian counsellor tends to be less conservative when estimating I guess?
