I think she’s probably just a less conservative person…
@ap012199 yea…on the other hand, my White counsellor said USC is my safety but I was rejected (sign…
@y11bwk “USC is my safety” And that’s the point when you should’ve stopped listening to her.
@AllRightNow lol true maybe I should trust neither of them! Got into UCLA despite both of them thinking I’m unlikely to get in…
lol same my counselor said UCLA was a reach and USC was a match but I got into UCLA and rejected from USC so ¯_(ツ)_/¯
My counselor put Berkeley as a match for me but it’s a reach for everyone pretty much
uc berkeley admissions is honestly unpredictable. you can have the grades and be the top student in your county or in the state (idk lol) but you could still be rejected lol
True…hope we can all get in! (unrealistic goal but >:D<
Sorry this is kinda late and annoying- but If i was admitted to UCLA, is it likely that I’ll be accepted to Berkley?
I was also accepted into UCSD, UW Seattle, Boston Univ, Boston College, and Northeastern (w/ merit scholarship). I was rejected from Johns Hopkins and Emory, and I was waitlisted at Wash U and Vanderbilt.
What are my chances for Berkeley? People have been saying 50-50 but I really don’t know what to expect.
@prineko Both schools are independent institutions. Both are highly competitive and have different application readers. That being said, there is absolutely no correlation between both schools in terms of acceptances. You never know how the application reader will view your essays, ECs, etc. All you can do now is wait and hope for the best. You’ll find the answer to your question on the Berkeley portal on Thursday. Good Luck.
i feel like i just need to keep my expectations low and just straight up assume I won’t get in, so then I won’t get crushed if im rejected or pleasantly surprised when i get in… but it’s honestly kinda hard not to expect smth… i have this constant hoping of getting in ugh i cant stop thinking about it
@2021person good luck! The waiting can be brutal.
Just to be sure, decisions come out at 5pm PDT tmrw right?
@crazyTM Yep
@VenomBuds A person who gave us a tour said he doesn’t have high test score or gpa but needed money to attend ucb.
Posting a question to the group - has anyone ever heard of applicants sending gift baskets and handwritten notes to admissions counselors for their region/state? And if so, is anyone else as appalled as I am that the applicant and his/her parents would engage in such desperate and blatant attempts to curry favor? I am assuming that for public schools accepting such a gift would be contrary to the counselors’ code of conduct but not sure for private schools.
i’ve heard of it all the time, but i’ve heard most admissions offices don’t care.
Got it, and I just must be super naive - am pretty plugged in to “mom talk” in local circles and had never heard of anyone sending gifts directly to Admissions - but maybe it is happening all over and nobody is 'fessing up to it! Take care and good luck in making your decisions! My D is waiting to hear from UNC and UC Berkeley before making final decision… can’t wait for all of this to be OVER.
@ATX_Mom - The only way to influence the admission decision if you can give a million dollar endowment to a private university (not sure about UCs though).
What time is the release date?
