@fedfan1998 um, I don’t think they’re sending it to just high stat people late…I got mine the last week of December, and my UC gpa is abysmal.
I wouldn’t read too much into the timing of the request for LOR. It probably has more to do with how the readers were assigned.
my school support only % grade out of 100. How can it be calculated to uc gpa?.
90 or over 90 can be earned to 4.0?
what do you define an abysmal UC GPA @Faultystart
@almostthere2021 Well, my weighted UC GPA is around 3.7…
Does anyone know when Regent scholars find out their results? Just early February?
February 12
Any grade 90 or more is 4. Then add and divide to see. If all your grades are 90 and up, 4.0.???
It is correct??
Feb 12?
@pac12bound yes, i believe that was the date last year.
this year should be Feb.10?
So after spending the last two hours researching and looking through threads, I can’t seem to find any correlation (stat-wise) between people getting asked for LORs.
It seems to be me that the shoe-ins are getting the requests but so are the almost definite no candidates.
After looking at the UCB Freshman profile and various other stats I’d put myself in the strong middle 50 category (which I would assume would be the people most likely to have gotten the request) but didn’t get one.
Thoughts?
Did you watch the video?
@stressed98 I was told that LORs are sent to definite maybe candidates through an algorithm but that others are asked to submit LORs after an initial review by an admissions officer. Most people who get asked either have very high stats but a low UCGPA or vice versa. Other possibilities for all-around high stats students receiving LORs is that they are being considered for Regents. Just speculation, though. At my school last year, the LORs helped more kids that hurt.
Any students applying to MET receive an invitation for interview yet?
Son accepted REA to Stanford, also applied to Berkeley EECS. Strong stats and no LOR request.
DD has an interview for MET this week but no LOR was requested.
How did the interview go? Sis is interested in that program for next year.
not sure if this was asked earlier but i’m going to ask anyway. since berkeley hasn’t asked for a transcript, are we supposed to somehow send them our 7th semester grades? or do they not care unless they ask
Has anybody gotten any notice about Regents scholarships yet? I heard from a colleague that his daughter received some sort of notice earlier in January–he thought it was an award of a Regent’s scholarship, but I’m guessing it could have been an invitation to interview (their family is focused on other schools so not paying much attention to Cal, apparently). In any case, has anybody else gotten anything suggesting that you have been admitted and have been awarded, or are being considered for, a Regent’s (or other) scholarship?
