Waitlisted. Do I have a decent chance?
“Berkeley was the only school I applied too and I got in lol I’m lucky af! I had a 3.1 GPA and a 1230 on my SAT holy crap”
“I lied about 3 extracurricular activities on my application good thing berkeley doesn’t fact check!”
@thatluckyguy14 don’t you think it’s a little wrong to lie about your extracurriculars on your application? Congrats, but really man? That’s just messed up to brag about… You aren’t “lucky af”, you cheated the system is all.
I got waitlisted:////, I am sad about it and all; however, there’s a chance. You know. Whatever happens happen. It’s meant to be.
No rejection out of 13 colleges I applied to. including Santa Cruz, Davis, Santa Barbara, SJSU, Cal Poly.
First Generation student
GPA. 4.3
NEW !! SAT. 1110 (I know, lol.)
REALLY GREAT ESSAYS, and E.C.
Does anyone know what to write on the essay for the waitlist thing. All it says, personal essay…
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!! And guys, stop saying “one of my classmates got in with a 1300, and I have a 1500” That’s really absurd. To be honest, it’s all about who you are!! If you are a boring person, than that’s the reason… It’s not all about grades and scores. It’s all about the E.C, and essays. Stop bringing stuff like that, it’s really annoying lol.
Is there a waitlist thread for this year?
@jcolestan yeah i think no one can figure it out unless you work in the office. Already decided to go to GeorgiaTech since UCLA and Berkeley both rejected me. guess this is fate. How about you?
@bellabiology99, @bing306 and @PotatoPotatoPotato: UCB does consider an applicants level of interest so you want to probably write a Why UCB essay, unless there are specific guidelines dictated by UCB for the essay. You want to highlight what UCB can offer you that other schools cannot. Why you would be a good “fit”. Also you want to mention any accomplishments/awards/job/internships not noted in the original application.
@moch5678 That guy is lying and joking around.
Anyway, regarding acceptances/denials, just know schools care more about building their class makeup than anything else. So don’t try to look for logic in decisions.
For me personally, I don’t know how people know their essays were great. I thought my kid’s essays were ok to pretty good.
ACCEPTED OMGGGG
@crazyTM congrats that’s a great school!! waiting on one more school but it’s a LONG SHOT. I got into the honors program at stony brook so I might just head there for a year. Only an hr away and I really wanted to go further so I might just transfer my second yr.
Noticing a lot of people denied by UCLA, but accepted by UCB … or vice versa. Admissions is a crapshoot.
UCB reviews more holistically because the AO kept on repeating that many times when we made an official visit 1.5 years ago.

IN
@lexisg09 lmao I’m the exact opposite of you… top choice was UCB and got waitlisted there, but I got into UVA Wanna trade? haha
My D got rejected… I am surprised
Got accepted UCLA engineering with likely letter
Major: Electrical Engineering
Stats,
SAT: 1540/1600
UWGP: 4.0
WGP: 4.63
EC: 4 years school band and 4 years on Robotic Team
@Kfrank62 I am surprised because your daughter was a female with high stats and did get a likely letter from UCLA which is no small accomplishment. However, I know many students (Asian-American males) who had near perfect GPAs and test scores above 1530s who got denied from Computer Science and Engineering programs from both UCLA and UC Berkeley. They were NMFs also. They all went to UCSD and are doing really well academically, getting close to 4.0 gpa.
