I’ve been rejected to Stanford and UCLA so far, but accepted to SCU, Occidental, UCD, UCSB, and a couple other safeties. I got into UCSB early (chancellors invite)… do I still have a chance at berkeley?

To all of you coming into this thread, UCB and all the UCs have their own criteria for admissions. No logic or any transitive or hierarchical gleams based on previous decisions.
My kid’s “tournament results” from last year, as an example:
UCD - win
UCSD - draw
UCLA - loss
UCSB - win
UCI - draw
UCB - win
My S1 was waitlisted at UCLA but got into UCB. I know other kids who got waitlisted /rejected by UCLA or UCSD but got into Berkeley. So, anything is possible, and I believe UCB is more holistic than UCLA. Good luck y’all!
I agree with @sdhotmama
UCB will need to be more holistic due to the pool being more academically qualified and more tight knit towards the high end of grades and scores.
When is UCB sending acceptance emails?
Thursday March 28, festivities start at 3pm PT.
Can anyone pls explain to me what this whole 4 address and 2 address thing is and where I find out if I have 4 or 2?
@momsparks March 28 supposedly
Any likely emails this year?
Please be up to date with basic school policy for the schools applied to.
UCB doesnt do ANY likely letters EVER.
got into UCB with regents candidacy… rejected from UCLA, and accepted into UCSD, anything is possible!
My portal just changed from 2 addresses to 4. Man oh man.
@mad1419 yea mine too. It goes from 4 to 2 to 4 to 2 and now to 4. Like wut
Applying to the UCs are similar to applying to any assortment of colleges (HYPSM etc). Applicants to both UCLA and UCB have high stats. Just because they are both UCs doesn’t mean they want the same type of student. Some will get into both but you will see many that are accepted into one but not the other. It isn’t that the schools compare notes. It is what one school is looking for compared to the other.
I agree with @lkg4answers
Not just assortment, but (this (the statement) applies to) literally the formed list of your applied to colleges itself.
@ProfessorPlum168 My D has gotten into UCSB, UCD, and UCLA but her #1 is UCB. Friends keep telling her that acceptance to UCLA MEANS you can’t get into UCB because of yields. Is that true? Believe it or not, if she doesn’t get into UCB she will go to U of W Seattle. Feeling very very fortunate right now.
The admissions process is such a lottery IMO, I somehow managed to get into schools with a much lower acceptance rate than UCD and UCSB [ex: phs program at american, the hhmi program at umiami] yet i’ve been rejected (not even waitlisted) from davis, SB, and ucla. At this point i’m just irked and i really hope I get into berkeley because I only applied to those 4 UCs. sigh
thank you for coming to my ted talk
someone plz look at my stats

Do I not have a chance at all?
@MLG2019 I have definitely heard that theory from many many parents over the years, but I’ve also been told by people in admissions that each UC university is completely independent in their admissions process.
At my kid’s school last year (in NorCal) we had a lot more UCB accepts than UCLA accepts. Three times as many. As it turned out, there were a ton of UCB accept/UCLA reject situations. But I think that was mainly due to the large number of people who applied for CS via L&S at UCB as opposed to UCLA which only has CS in Engineering which very hard to get into. Of the kids that I know that got into UCLA, I think some did get into UCB, but not a lot, as the UCB yield was 70% and I know about 10 of the kids who didn’t go to Berkeley went to other schools because of full scholarships or went to Ivy’s.
