UC berkeley 90000 applicants

i just saw a youtube clip by UC berkeley admission and they said they received almost 90,000 applicants,,,,,,holy,,,cow,,,,, now i realise that i should stop hoping. UC's bye bye~

SO MANY PEOPLE! lol

HOLY **** hahahahahaha better not get my hopes up then

Holy cow that’s a lot! They’ll accept about 20% though. That’s a lot of students! You still have a shot, so keep your hopes up!

i know, do you think international students would be more in disadvantaged??

Unfortunately, yes. The pool of international applicants who get selected is much smaller than the pool of American students. They have to have better grades, SAT’s and EC’s to be selected. But, nothing is set in stone. A lot of people get accepted. Don’t lose hope!

i kinda disagree with you bro(generally speaking yes), coz the average admitted SAT scores of out of state students were like 2150, but international students - 2132. So i think it depends on case by case.

That’s a lot!!! It is esimated that Standford would receive over 30000 applicants for its RD program. California is attracting a greater talent pool…

very fine discussion .i like this.

Do you guys still think they will get 20%?

UCLA, here I come!

U
C a
Lot of
Asians :)

Wow…I also applied to Berkeley

UCLA may have gotten more than 100,000 then as more people apply to UCLA than Cal.

Is there a reason why UCLA has more applications than Cal? I always thought of Cal as the more desirable campus of the two.

And yet, don’t forget that, nowadays, out-of-staters and internationals are full-freight at both… except when they are recruited athletes.

Actually it was UCLA that got 90,000 this year, not Berkeley. Berkeley is probably in the 70,000s this year

scderek4 you are wrong, check this out, <a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube;

That video is leaking cheese… It seems 90000 includes transfer too! So if you factor in last years Frosh and transfer apps, it’s only about a 10000 increase

How many are actually qualified though? I know a ton of kids from my school (OOS) who just checked the Ucb box on the UC application even though they really just wanted to apply to ucla or ucsd. Some just checked all the boxes because it doesn’t require any extra work

90K? That sounds really intimidating. :(

Good luck everyone! :)

I agree, many unqualified people from my school simply applied “just cuz”. Which is fine, it just throws off the numbers and gives the readers less time to read the apps of people who actually want to attend
