Hey guys!
We’re all waiting for admission decisions from Cal and I was wondering how the 6% increase in applicants will affect this year’s acceptance rate. Last year, it was 17%. The college of engineering had an acceptance rate of only 9.7%. Do you guys think that these numbers will drop even lower this year?
Is the applicants increase only 6%? Are you sure of this number?
here’s the source: http://www.dailycal.org/2015/01/12/uc-berkeley-sees-6-percent-jump-applications-undergraduate-admissions/
@cheemu what’s your take on this?
Oh and when I said “Last year, it was 17%” I meant that last year Cal’s acceptance rate overall was 17%.
Let’s look on the bright side. When it comes to prospective students, at least we’re not seeing UCLA numbers in which the total # of applicants > 112,000
You seem to know the acceptance rate for engineering…
Any information for econ? (liberal arts dept.)
^ I meant the college of arts and sciences department
@Xavier97, I would expect Berkeley to again be more competitive in admissions that UCLA.
Is UCLA engineering more competitive than UCB Letters and Science? (for a CS major)
Cal’s admit rate last year was 18.1:

At the new student tour in April, they said letters and science had something like a 15% acceptance rate. This might’ve included transfers though. The new stats should update in June on the website.
