can anyone tell me the admission rates for History, African American history, and Media Studies. I am debating which to apply to, my gpa is appx 3.78

Well you should definitely apply. History and African American history are in the social sciences and the admissions rate this year was 21% which is competitive but if you complete all your prerequisites and keep that gpa up you will have a good shot at the social science department. UC Berkeley accepts by department and not by major just to let you know. Media studies had an acceptance rate of 31%

You should apply to whatever interests you the most since your GPA certainly puts you into competition for all three.

all the social sciences are 21%, or are some higher rates than others?

Can someone post the direct link to Berkeley’s admission rates by department/major, thanks.

Its hard to say if some majors are easier to get into than others. For econ and Psychology it is very important to complete all your prerequisites where they don’t stress this as much for other majors (although it is still extremely important to do so). Beardy here is a link it is a pdf file and you need to scroll down to the bottom http://students.berkeley.edu/files/Admissions/12626_5.Info_TransAdm.pdf

^ Thank you Thedude44.

I recommend you pick whichever topic interests you the most because once you start feeling the pressure of Cal weighing down on you, you don’t want to start wondering if you made the right choice or not.

<— history major at Cal btw

I saw the pdf you suggested for berkeley admission by dept. It is great for transfer admission. Is there such a pdf for freshman admisssion? Also is there an undergraduate student distribution by major/dept
