Anyone else get Berkeley’s email saying that they want a letter of rec?

Yes I got an email today! Do they send it to everyone or people on the fence?

How soon after you submitted your application did you receive the request for recs?

@tigerbookmark I got the request today around 10am EST. I submitted my app on Saturday.

@Iamsixtyone Thanks. I haven’t submitted my application yet, but will do so tonight or tomorrow.

I got one 5 days after

“Berkeley retreated partly for this fall and probably will invite letters from just 20% or so of this year’s applicants, mainly those whose prospects are between certain acceptance and rejection, according to Papadopoulos, a mechanical engineering professor”–got this from an article. Does it mean that letters of recs from berkeley are given to students who fall in the middle range?

All of the students on this thread should not fret. Although getting into Cal is a total crap shoot there is always hope. My daughter received a spring admission with a 4.3 GPA weighted, 3.9 unweighted, and an SAT score of 1680. Lots of extra curriculars including many awards for her given activity. I read somewhere the “key” is to have an impact on your school and community of which she did.
