UC Berkeley Chances?

Hi, I know this is a question that gets asked too many times here, but I've been doing some reading, and was interested to know my prospective chances on getting into UC Berkeley for the Class of 2019, here are some of my stats:

Unweighted GPA (not UC GPA) - 3.66

Weighted GPA - 4.03

7 Total AP Classes (1 Sophomore year, 2 Junior year, 4 planned for Senior year)

590 Math, 650 Reading, 800 Writing on the SAT (my first time, I plan to take it again)

ECs:
- ~160 Community Service Hours, including 35 working in India
- Speech/Debate since Freshman year, with 4-5 awards
- I have been an intern in a UCLA Medical Lab since the summer after freshman year, with ~250 hours worked, with 100-200 more this summer
- I am part of the California Scholarship Federation, which requires me to tutor other students at my school
- I am the president of a small charity club at my school

I know my GPA is on the lower side for typical UCB admissions, but I was wondering if a solid SAT (2100+, a score I hope to get on the next one) and my ECs (which would be further explained in the personal statement and essay) would give me the push I need to become a candidate for admission. Thank you!

Your ECs are good! They go a long way! but no sports or music affiliation may be disappointing.
Yes, the GPA could be much better. Same with the SAT. I think that a 2100+ would put you in a decent position to be considered.
Even then, however, I still think UCB is a reach for you. But, if you’re a Cali resident, a minority, and have a kickass application/essay, there’s no reason they would ever think of denying you :)

Btw, a chance back would be much appreciated  http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1632799-chances-to-my-dream-schools.html#latest</a></p>

@outwest88, yeah, I was worried about the lack of sports/music. I was hoping my involvement in Debate would cover that instead, and I also took Film I and II (and ended up receiving a Cinematography award at a festival) to hopefully balance that out.

GPA and SAT do seem a little low, but you are instate. Work on the sat a lot. the internships etc. seem to help. maybe pick up a sport like xc which is easy to pick up as well. chance me back http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1626482-chances-for-mit.html#latest</a></p>

What major are you applying for? At UCB your major (or at least if you’re applying engineering or not) affects your chances a lot.

Let’s break your application down.

SAT 2100: Average
Weighted GPA: a solid 0.45 lower than Berkeley’s uncapped average
Unweighted GPA: a solid 0.2 lower than average
Extra Curriculars: Average/Below Average.
AP Tests: Average

Overall: Reach.

High Match/Low Reach for Letters and Sciences, outright Reach for Engineering. Good luck on your next SAT.
