What are my chances of getting into UC Berkeley?
Which parts of my application are solid and which parts should i work on?
Any advice is greatly appreciated

Berkeley: Match
Stanford: Reach
CMU: Reach

I agree with Catria, but I’d say CMU is also a Match. Stanford is a reach for everyone. It’ll really depend on your essay.

CMU wouldn’t be a reach if it wasn’t for CS…

UCB - High match
CMU - High match/low reach
Stanford - Reach

UCB - High match
CMU - High match/low reach
Stanford - Reach but trust me you have a chance especially as a URM, with USAMO and USAPHO.

None of those schools are matches, especially as a CS major. I expect that you’ll get into Berkeley, but CMU and Stanford will also depend on the strength of your essays. However you have a lot going for you (URM, high GPA, test scores, decent ECs) so I wouldn’t be surprised if you got into all of these schools.

I would be very, very surprised if you didn’t get into Berkeley. CMU is a match and Stanford is a reach (obviously for everyone) but you have a chance.

Chance back http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1643775-chance-me-for-columbia-ed-rice-florida-wake-forest.html#latest</a></p>

I agree with saif235 completely. None of them are matches for CS but I expect you’ll to get into Berkeley. CMU CS and Stanford have abysmal acceptance rates, but you stand a chance if you can write amazing essays. The people who are telling you that CMU is a match for CS are most likely just looking at the overall acceptance rate of the school and basing their decision off of that. However, the School of Computer Science at CMU has a much lower acceptance rate. Good luck!

This guy might be ■■■■■■■■. http://www.maa.org/sites/default/files/pdf/AMC/usamo/2014_USAMO_Qualifiers.pdf</a> . Could you please provide us with a state( to confirm that ur not ■■■■■■■■).
A basic overview of this list does not have common hispanic names. <a href=“Most Common Hispanic Last Names in the United States”>http://names.mongabay.com/data/hispanic.html</a>.
http://www.aapt.org/physicsteam/2014/upload/2014-Corrected-Semi-Finalists-3-27-2014.pdf</a></p>

@wcao9311‌ You’re stupid. As simple as that.
Not every single hispanic person has a hispanic name. Why the hell should he tell you where he lives as well as his name. You may as well install a camera in his shower.

Anyways. I’d say Berkeley is a match for you. You even seem a bit above average (amazing SAT 1 and SAT 2) in every aspect. I wouldn’t be too surprised if you got into Stanford either!

@bluberaptor‌
:)

You can not identify someone who is trolling by the assumption of their name.

Wow. You have a merely perfect app. Just three tips for applications.

1.) express you’re a minority. It’ll help.

2.) make sure to accentuate that you are a person who does EC’s like basketball. Make it sound like bball is hugeeee to you because you have to have more than just academics for the three schools you’re looking at.

3.) focus a lot on essays. They are way more important than people give them credit for!

GOOD LUCK !!!

Chance back…

@bluberaptor What’s why there’s a maybe, because there are few hispanics that make USAMO.

@wannabefeynman‌ that would be true, if he wasn’t say 100% hispanic , otherwise you could simply check the list of names.

Thank you guys so much for the advice.

UCB: high match/
CMU: high match/low reach
Stanford reach
@austin23 answer my question?

You have a very solid chance at getting into Cal. Your test scores are incredible. Your ECs show that you are well-rounded. UCB is a match for you. Good luck!
