***UC Berkeley Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion***

Someone please answer my question above!!

@finny12 Yes. You have to send all ACT AND all SAT1 scores.

No…you have to send all SAT OR all ACT…you do not have to send both

Here from the UC website @Chinamom2

If you took both tests, you have to submit all. It you took ACT or SAT you just submit the one you took.

@Ballerina016 - I agree with @Chinamom2 . Its either all SAT or all ACT.

I think it’s safer to send both.

My GC said either/or and on the website, it says and/or. So I believe it is either SAT or ACT. I am 90% sure, although 10 % im not sure. Good Luck and Happy New Year!

Does anyone know a person who was accepted who only reported SAT scores? I would really like a confirmation on this. My ACT was not good. @-)

When my D called to confirm this, she was told all SATs (no score choice) — OR — all ACTS (no score choice). Subject tests were all subject tests, no score choice, but if you submitted ACT only, you didn’t need to submit your SAT reasoning test, just all your subject tests.

I can’t say that the person who answered the phone was qualified to make that judgement call, but that’s the answer that she got.

@johnlimster I didn’t that at first I only saw the 2200. While I am not a councelor of course lol and know probably just ad much as you, I have heard that UC’s are one of the schools that consider Writing too as equally important compared to other schools that consider just Cr and Math. So in that case I think it should be okay, not ideal, but your gpa and other stuff should make up for a dip in that section.

I submitted my app mid November. I got the request for letters late November. My unweighted GPA is 4.0 while my weighted uncapped is 4.60. My UC GPA is 4.45ish not 100% sure though. SAT 1 2020, ACT 31, SAT Math 2 750, SAT US History 770, SAT Bio E 720. I think the letters are for competitive applicants that are missing something to guarantee acceptance. I applied Mechanical Engineering. Good luck to everyone and know whether you are accepted or not there will be a college for you. Everyone applying are exceptional students so lets relax and enjoy senior year!

@10s4life The letter request process is totally random - approximately 20% of applications get a request. It doesn’t mean anything. Berkeley wants to slowly start implement LoR’s into the admissions process in the coming years, that’s why they’re doing it.

Hi All, it will be useful for next year’s applicants if we can include whether we received LOR or not with our decision results in March. Let’s see how many percent of those received LOR accepted. :slight_smile:

Wait… did anyone get a email from berkeley 10 minutes ago?
I got an email saying greeting (My name) happy new year.
Does it mean anything??

@hansomeboy Yes. It absolutely does mean something!

It means that there is a day (i.e. 1 Jan 16) that just came and went that we turn over the calendar- essentially, we start another 365 (in this case, the 366) days- and UCB wants it to be a good one for you.

:slight_smile:

No…lol
I got that too

@ChicagoSportsFn @Malcomx99
Did you guys all apply to Berkeley?
If yes, When did you guys apply?
I applied on November 1st, and I got rec letter request on November 17th.
I was one of first people to get rec letter request.

Yea I applied on the deadline date…also got a LOR…a week later.

@ChicagoSportsFn @Malcomx99
I am pretty sure I do not have chance for Regents Scholarship interview
However, do you know when they start sending interview invitation for this year?
I know it means you got in, and they sent invitation on about February 9th last year.
Lastly, do you know if they send that to Out-of-State applicants that live faraway from Berkeley?
I know out of state applicants get it, but I live in Michigan, so I am not sure if I can get it.

@hansomeboy My D submitted her app to UCB a couple weeks before it was due in Nov. We are OOS. She wasn’t one of the 20% they randomly selected for an LOR. We don’t know much about that Regents Scholarship.

She pulled her app in mid-Dec though because she got into her ED school.
