Can international students also receive early notification on the 12th regarding admission?
@Malcomx99 no one knows for sure; go back a page and speculation is 3-5pm PST.
@Grisham2020 I believe so; they notify their ‘top 2000’ applicants from their 80,000+ freshman applicants
Do people who’re gonna get their decisions tomorrow know that they were selected for regent’s?
@McKilla99 All the people who get their notifications tomorrow for early decision are by default invited to be Regents Scholars
I think that they are nominated for regents but have not gotten it. but they have got into berkeley for sure
That’s right. Just nominated. If you do get nominated, you have to go through an interview process, and you will find out at the end of March if you do get accepted to be a Regents Scholar
So not everyone will have a decision tomorrow. When will the regular decision be out?
@herewelearn here we learn: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/19272783#Comment_19272783
I have been checking collegeconfidential.com every 2 hour , and collegeconfidential.com has been really my girl friend for last few months.
Hoping to break up with collegeconfidential.com tomorrow by getting Regents invitation. LOL
@hansomeboy LOL If you get Regents tomorrow, you can’t break up with CC yet cuz you’ll be obsessing about the interview! :))
Is it true that its rare for people to get both UCLA and Cal Regents? If so, why do you think that is. You would think the top 1.5% at UCLA would also be the top 1.5% at Cal, or vice versa.
@whynotnow .
that’s right. Good point. LOL
@herewelearn March 24th
Okay I’m seeing some misconceptions flying around. This year is different from previous years: Berkeley is accepting a larger pool of people early than usual, and this time around not all of them will be invited for Regents. Most of them will, but some will just be getting in early without an invitation.
I believe on international and OOS applicants who get the email tomorrow are automatically accepted into Regents. If you’re in state (which the vast majority of people who receive the scholarship will be), and you get the email tomorrow, youll be one of two people: the first is someone invited to regents who must then go to LA or the campus to interview, and the second someone who just got accepted early but still won’t be able to apply for Regents.
It comes down to the holistic review - presumeable UCB, UCLA, and other UCs may have some different criterias they are looking for their Regents scholars. Kinda why a candidate gets into HPY and not S or whatever other combination.
So are there going to be more people notified tomorrow than just those invited to apply for Regents? I’m not quite sure what to expect. Berkeley is a reach for me. I did get an email for the Leadership award and sent in my app early, and I also got an email from the college I applied to (CED) tonight describing the school. I think my essays were really good but I’m so unsure!
On a previous post, someone said it’s rare to receive both UCLA and UCB Regents invitation. Is this because
(1) the schools coordinate so that they don’t both send invitations to certain applicants, or
(2) just because it’s hard to get even one, so getting both is even more difficult?
Thanks!
How do you know this? Not saying you’re wrong or anything, just wondering.
@Jackson9854 Berkeley announced that on its website somewhere as fact
