Wait. I have to send all my SAT scores? I haven’t sent any. I only sent all my ACT and all my SAT 2 scores. I never mentioned SAT even on my application.
All SAT1 AND All ACT. Score choice for SAT2.
I received an invite to submit letters of recommendation. I have a 32 ACT and a pretty low UC GPA, but my extracurriculars are great. I also thought it was for borderline students, but I know another girl who got it, and she is definitely better than borderline. From what I’ve heard, UCB hasn’t told anyone why or how they’re doing it.
My guess is that they are sending it to what they think their top 20% is. But I could definitely be wrong.
I really wish I knew what the recommendation means. I am a borderline student, and talk of the recs being random is killing me.
@Salutation I sent my scores to each UC that I applied to just to be safe-- I’m guessing that you have to send in the scores for each school because each UC has its own test code BUT I’m not quite sure.
“Report ACT and/or SAT scores on your admissions application, then request that an official copy of the scores be sent to us from the testing agency. You can have your official score report sent to one UC campus, and all campuses you apply to will receive it.”

Turned in my app yesterday. IDK my UC GPA, but I have a 32 ACT (33 Superscored). I think I would be borderline. I haven’t been asked for a letter of rec yet. If I am asked, do the teachers mail it to Cal themselves, or is it like the common app?
Also, will Cal ask for a transcript soon? When my brother applied like 3 years ago, UCLA and Cal both asked for a transcript after applying (he got into UCLA, but he was probably borderline).
Do I need to sent in AP scores as well? I know I must send in SAT or ACT and the subject tests. But are AP scores to be sent in as well? What about transcripts?
Also, is the deadline Dec 1 if I started the application already for Berkeley?
@boomboom123 Applications are due today (11/30) by midnight I believe. NOT Dec. 1.
“We recommend that students who complete Advanced Placement courses complete the related AP examination to demonstrate subject mastery. Similarly, International Baccalaureate scores and scores from SAT Subject Tests can be used to showcase academic mastery. In order to receive unit credit toward the baccalaureate degree, you must submit an official copy of your AP or IB scores directly from the testing agency. This can be done in the summer following high school graduation.”

You don’t have to send in your transcripts unless you decide to attend the school.
@tigerbookmark That is fine, I am done the app anyway. However, I am not planning to use AP exams to place out of class or for credit cause I mean AP exams does not come close to Berkeley courses in terms of rigor.
Do I still send AP in if I am not using it to place out?
You self report your AP scores on the application, but don’t need to send them in officially unless you plan to use them for class placement.
Wait, can you just send only one recommendation?
You can send from 0-2 recommendations.
Got the request a few days ago. 1930 SAT/4.5 GPA, great extracurriculars, awards, and personal statement though.
Same situation here–submitted my app on 11/25, got an email this evening. 2250 SAT, 34 ACT, 4.33 UC GPA, 4.16 W 3.83 UW…great extracurriculars/awards/essays. Should be ok since I have several great teachers who have already written common app letters of rec for me. It’d be good to figure out whether the group of us who received the emails are borderline or top 20% as some are suggesting–at least we’re certainly being strongly considered.
Submitted app on 11/16, received request on 11/21. 2380 SAT, really good SAT IIs, slightly weaker ECs and essays. Not exactly borderline IMO… I have a really good feeling the requests are randomized…
Honestly looking at this forum makes me super scared. Everyone on this page seems to have amazing test scores.
I’m one of the lower test scores and i got a request for a LOR.
I have a 1860 SAT and 27 ACT score, but a 4.6 GPA and a good amount of EC.
At this point, it seems everyone who is applying got an auto LOR request regardless of stats. It seems people are receiving LOR request right after they submitted their apps.
However. I do hope I am wrong since my son also received a LOR request. Want to believe it is a good thing!
