[ /list][ b]General Comments/Additional Information:[ /b][ list]
Anyone have insight on out of state tuition/student loans? Would it be worth it? Or should I just attend UF and come out debt free?
Are you guys gonna submit an essay along with your opt-in? If so, does anyone know how we’re supposed to format it? Like just straightforward additional info or an actual, in-depth college essay?
@“Jordan Manthey” see the attached link:
http://financialaid.berkeley.edu/meeting-nonresident-costs
The Cost of Attendance (tuition, room and board, etc.) for OOS is $60,073 (OOS tuition is $38,139). The UC’s are phasing out OOS FA, so don’t depend on it. You also have to plan on OOS tuition increasing each year.
i just did a straight forward additional information essay. I was like hi berkeley, this is what i want you to know, bye berkeley
Am I the only person that feels like Berkeley does not consider academic excellence as much as it should? I have a 4.6 UC weighted GPA, I’m ranked 4/480 in my high school, and I got a 31 on my ACT. I took 12 AP tests and didn’t pass only one. I have a ton of extracurriculars and I feel like the weakest part of my application is my ACT score (not awful) and my personal statement (good but could have been better).
@zarmok1998 What did you apply for? If it was a competitive major/college, you wouldn’t be as above average as you clearly believe you are.
Chemistry. I am in no way complaining about being wait listed. I obviously understand how difficult it is to get into a school like Berkeley. I just feel like there is no consistency when it comes to evaluating applications.
my son got waitlisted today, he will opt in…#keephopealive
hey guys!! my school does grades by semester so im really confused should i put my current grades for spring grade or should i put IP because theyre technically not final?
i think additional information is best!
Will I be at a disadvantage if I don’t submit my grades? I got 3 B’s this year as opposed to the 1 B I’ve gotten in each of grades 10 and 11, meaning that my GPA will be about 0.2 lower.
Helpful site answering general waitlist FAQs for all UCs in general: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/q-and-a/waitlist/index.html#1
@zarmok1998 The school of chemistry is extremely prestigious, selective, and fairly small. It is the most selective school at Berkeley. You can’t compare your results to people who just applied to the college of letters and sciences.
Waitlisted here, also a CA resident. I’ve heard good things about the waitlist in past years, at least 3 people from my local high school got off it last year, so there’s hope!
Do you guys know if the “Optional Personal Essay” is supposed to follow the format of a standard college essay? Or is it somewhere for you to list/talk about your new achievements this year?
RIP 8th waitlist… T_T
Shoutout to those with a stupid number of waitlists! Comfort me! I need to know I’m not the only one suffering like this! Let’s pray for each other… [-O< :(( :))
@epicninja49, if you want to opt in to Cal’s waitlist, you should still send in an SIR for another school. If you get into Cal off the waitlist, you can then let the other school know you will no longer be attending; you will lose that deposit but it comes down to how important Cal is to you.
I found the Waitlist FAQ’s did a good job describing how to approach the Waitlist opt in.
Good luck all!
got waitlisted as well, what does an unofficial transcript look like since it asks to upload one?
