UC Berkeley - Class of 2020 Waitlist

Did Berkeley even reject anyone or did they put everyone who got in on waitlist? There seems to be an absurd amount of people.

@johnnybouy Did you read the RD thead…I saw a lot of rejections. My friend applied and was rejected. They did not send oit mostly waitlists I believe.

I really hope so!!! though last year the acceptance rate from wait-list was 20%… :frowning:

the grade update page is divided into trimesters(fall, winter, spring) but my school only does semesters so how do I fill it out?

@NICE8x my major is under the College of Letters and Science.

I’m planning on opting in  best of luck to every one!!
Does anyone know if it will hurt not to put in my senior grades? I didn’t do so well lol

@zarmok1998 Oh I’m so sorry. I thought you applied to the Chemistry School. I have no idea why then. Oh hollistic admissions…

@freakingout98 I have the same question. I guess it won’t hurt since it’s optional and made available only so students could show that they’ve improved. Not sure though.

What is an unofficial transcript?

A soft copy or a scanned pic of your transcript.

Waitlisted OOS
ACT: 34
UW GPA: 4.0
UC GPA: ~4.33
Valedictorian
EC’s: strong, very involved in competitive Academic Decathlon
Personal statement: I thought pretty good
Requested LOR’s and only submitted one but it was definitely good as it was from my Aca Deca coach

I’m bummed because Cal has been my dream school for years. OOS sucks but I opted in for the wait list. Just hoping for Ivy Day now

Is almost everyone on the waitlist an EECS applicant? cause it seems so.

I was waitlisted. MECH ENGineering

Waitlisted college of chemistry (chemical biology) out-of-state (NY) here. Is Berkeley’s waitlist an “actual” waitlist or just a “courtesy” to certain rejects?
btw I received a LOR request and submitted 2

Seems like most of us are more than qualified to attend Berkeley which is why it’s upsetting to find out they’re admitting students with lower test scores and gpas. Last year 3000 students got onto the wait list,2000 opted in, and approximately only 500 were eventually accepted

I chose linguistic as my major. Since it’s a less competitive major, will I have a better chance to be selected? Also, my grades for this trimester dropped, should I still submit the grades when opting in? Thank you!

My D was waitlisted! College of Letters and Science. OOS. One thing that might stop her from staying on the waitlist is that I was reading the Admissions blog and it stated that for all of the 2016 incoming class that housing was not guaranteed. So the kids that will be affected by this most are the kids who commit late (i.e. the waitlisted students). I think she will attend UCLA, although still waiting on USC and Brown.

I applied as an international student for mechanical engineering major and also got wait-listed. I think that I will opt in.

SAT Reasoning: 2070 [CR 600, M 800, WR 670]

Major awards: Silver Medal from International Earth Science Olympiad, Royal Thai government’s full scholarship abroad for mechanical engineering major, National youth of the year

Extracurricular Activities: Robotics, Volunteering, Table Tennis (National merit award), Checker (National Merit award), National Science Olympiad Camp

I wasn’t offered to send additional letters of recommendation.

I got rejected from Stanford, MIT and Northwestern.
I got accepted from Georgia Tech, UIUC, Purdue and UW-Madison.
I’m waiting for Princeton, Cornell, Columbia and University of Michigan.

What are your stats?

I got wait listed. If I include winning first place with chamber orchestra for an international competition, getting second place with wind symphony in the same competion!(basically competing against each other) competion took place in Hawaii, joined track and field, got first place in color guard, being able to participate in the Music for All festival in Indianapolis, having A’s and couple of B’s in AP classes (Gov, Calc BC, Lit and comp) mom was in hospital so I had to stop working to care for her(didn’t know how long she would stay) played at a gig with my neighbor and created our own album. What do you guys think?
