At this point is probably safe to assume that EECS reached their targets (maybe even went beyond…) and they don’t need anyone from the waitlist. There is only about 300 admits a year for EECS (https://www.eecs.berkeley.edu/department/statistics.shtml), so I am kind of surprised to see so many EECS people in the waitlist here in CC
Got into the college of letters and science!!! So relieved, after rejections at all of my other options save a waitlist at UChicago.
Do you guys think the college of engineering is accepting any more students off the waitlist? Can someone call and find out more about this as well as the date for the next wave?
@anxiousenior1 @kornido Hi, what are the requirements to get into the Haas school of business? Besides having a certain GPA, do i need to do internships and stuff in order to get into the Haas school? I am a little bit concerned that I may not get into the Haas school. If i do get in, i would be really ecstatic.
did a lot of people get accepted off the waitlist for Berkeley? I already know 3 people from my school that got accepted off the waitlist. I’m OOS.
Did anyone who was accepted OOS receive any financial aid? A $62k price tag is just not feasible…
I assumed that I wouldn’t get any. DOn’t even know where to look for it
My daughter just got off the waitlist, what is the situation with the classes in San Francisco?
The big difference is that you have to take classes in San Fran, not on the main campus. You can live in campus housing and commute.
@Deedee22 “Just” as in now or as in yesterday with the rest of the wave?
How far away is San Francisco
Does the school offer transportation or are you on your own
Is there a wide variety of classes offered
CS majors in LandS are not guaranteed. You can only declare if you meet the minimum requirement of a 3.3 GPA in CS61A, 61B, and 70
@Deedee22 Congratulations!
Did your daughter get in today?
Or with the big batch yesterday?
Bump, has anyone been accepted/heard word of anyone being accepted for the College of Chemistry? It’s relatively small and I fear they may not have any space
Did a lot of people get accepted from the waitlist?
For those of you discouraged by the fact that you did not get regular fall admit, let me share some info I gathered. A friend of mine got in regular admission last year and CHOSE to enroll in FPF Berkeley. She told me that she was glad she did this because the class sizes were smaller and she was able to connect and easily reach out to her professors. Another thing she mentioned was that FPF students get 1-on-1 advising and that helped her a lot because her adviser made suggestions of which classes to take for her degree pathway. Berkeley is a really large public school, so the transition between high school and freshman year of college WILL BE difficult, but she has told me that FPF has made her transition less stressful and confusing. Hope this helps!
@stillstressed i love ur username lol.
Anyone get in for Biochemistry yet??
Hi, my son was admitted into L&S in the 5/1 wave, and I found this great group for advice and answers. I see there are some comments about getting admitted into particular majors, like CS. I graduated from Cal in CS. What most people don’t realize is that essentially all freshmen in L&S are undeclared. At the end of sophomore year, after completing the required prereqs, you can apply to a major. If you get accepted, then that’s when you are officially in a particular major. For popular majors such as CS, Business, Psychology, and Public Health, there are many more people applying than space available. The competition for CS is the highest. (When I applied it was 1 in 7 admittance. Average GPA for a class is 2.7. Don’t know the admittance rate now.) Check each department’s website for more info. All this to say that the major (in L&S) you enter with is not set until you declare later. You can explore, try classes, and change along the way. Good luck!
The following is info from the CS department website:
Students entering UC Berkeley before fall 2015 must complete all 7 of the lower division course requirements with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 in order to petition for admission to the major.
Students entering UC Berkeley in fall 2015 or after fall 2015 must complete CS 61A, CS 61B, and CS 70 with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 in order to petition for admission to the major.
We only use grades for courses completed at UC Berkeley for the GPA calculation. Students may petition for admission to the major during the semester in which the final technical prerequisites are being completed.
i got in to the college of chemistry for biochem on 5/10. im in state.
