UC Berkeley - Class of 2022 Applicants Thread

@coolguy985 when i open the suggested link, this message showed up for me:

Recommendations
Our records indicate that you were not invited to submit a letter of recommendation as of yet. Should this change, we will send you an email to inform you of the change and will instruct you on how to submit this information.

Please note that not every student is invited to submit a letter of recommendation. Receiving an invitation is not an indication of any student’s admissions status. Upon initial review of application, our office may determine that we would like more information. If you do not receive this invitation we ask that you please refrain from sending any information to our office. Any unsolicited information, including letters of recommendation, is not guaranteed to be reviewed in the application process.

If you have this message, I guess you are fine

If ‘most’ of the students who receive the February decision are nominees, what are the rest of the students that get the February response? Is it random?

If my stats aren’t exactly high but I didn’t get an invitation to submit a letter of recommendation, does mean that I’m basically denied already? I’m OOS

@Jagomezpr it’s kind of hard to tell based on “aren’t exactly high”. Can you be more specific?

Can anyone tell me my chances of being accepted at UC Berkeley…

Strong Essays where I wrote about my NGO work and how the entire experience made me more open-minded, acquainting me with the circumstances of those very different from me. In other essays, I wrote about how my passion for robotics and coding has lead my expressive side “to create things”. I also mentioned about work I did during my Internship period and talked about how my research work at PRL had ensconced me in a university-like environment.

NOTES:

  • I did not received request for LORs
  • Did not apply for financial aid
                                      ........................................Thank You...........................................

Does anyone know if they’ll ask for 1st semester grades for senior year?

@quinnbossel: UCB does not consider Senior grades in their admission decisions unless they specifically request your Senior grades in their augmented review. However, they expect you to maintain an unweighted GPA of 3.0 and no more than 2 C’s to keep your provisional admission if accepted.

There is some language on the UC Application Center page, as well as each campus’s portal about “updating” courses in progress. Arguably, you could log in and update with grades received at the end of the first semester? Is this a good idea? Frowned upon?

I think it’s best to sit tight till someone says they’ve received a Chancellor’s/Regent’s email. @YoungOne4

According to last year’s thread, there were early acceptances around Feb 10? Does anyone have info about this? Perhaps last year’s applicants??

I believe it is not required but wanted to check. Is filling out FAFSA required to be considered for Regents scholarship? We won’t qualify for financial aid so we didn’t fill out FAFSA but it is not clear if that is a requirement to be considered for Regents. Any pointers would be very helpful. Thanks!

@2022collegegrad you dont submit a FAFSA if you’re an int. applicant

@BrKmNk We live in CA but won’t be eligible for any financial aid even if we filled out FAFSA. That was the reason out that form.

Hey guys please help! I was requested a letter of recommendation and since my teacher didn’t understand how of UC Berkeley processes letter of recommendation and sent the letter through naviance even though I sent her the link…since they no longer do naviance and I let my teacher resubmitted it right away two days later once I discovered but I am not sure if it is still possible to get reviewed…the letter is very good and my teacher and I worked really hard on it…will it hurt a lot?thx for help

@JaqueBear I can only suggest for you to call the admissions office and inform them about this issue.

They are like ‘oh it’s fine since not submitting won’t hurt but if you did resubmit then awesome, but we have no garantie that it will be read as a part of your application.’does it mean my letter is out? I know I am a broader line applicant getting a request of LOR and if I just let it go to waste I’ll be like ughhhh…@BrKmNk

Hey!
I wanted to actually major in Business Administration and pick my second major as IEOR in case I didn’t get in.
However, I’ve applied to the MET program and have been rejected. So I’ve automatically been considered as an applicant of IEOR.
Can I notify Berkeley that I’d like to considered for admission to L&S(undeclared business administration major) instead of IEOR?
Can I change my major from IEOR to Business Administration after getting admitted?
Thanks for all the help!

@Ccada3300 Did you receive a decision from MET already? When? Did you receive an email or letter saying so?

@Ccada3300 Did you receive an email saying you got rejected?

They will not notify you. However, if by end of January and no MET interview invitation, you are not being considered for the MET program.

@ccada3300, if you want to change major, you must do so before Jan 31. On the Berkeley portal, there’s a link to send in major change request.
