UC Berkeley - Class of 2022 Applicants Thread

@Laketahoe79 Are you only waiting on Ivies now?

@Ploince @Laketahoe79 yes, very common indeed…

@grandscheme. We have applied 5 UCs(UCB, UCLA, UC San Diego, UCI and UCSB. received the EA acceptance from UVA. Other than that, 5 IVYs. I feel my D will be ended up with one of the UCs.

For those who got regents, was it mentioned in your initial acceptance email?

Also can regents be awarded to out of state students?

@StevenToCollege Not to Global Mngmt - L&S as Undeclared (Intending a major in Business Administration in the Haas School of Business). 3.9UW, 4.4W, 34 ACT

new to CC, Can someone share how to search particular ID’s historical posts? I tried to click ID, but only returned with statistics." How many posts, like, etc.Thanks!

Did you apply to Global Management Program and were accepted as L&S Undeclared instead?
Or did you just apply directly to L&S Undeclared?

those who got in - i get you are excited, but would really appreciate if you can share your stats.

@Laketahoe79 Ahhh,not worried for you/your student then. UVA EA?! Excellent option right there. (my alma mater!)
Unless a student has a hook like having developed a cure for cancer, being a star athlete or being an underrepresented minority, there are very few slots left for pretty smart plain ol white kids. More strong students with outstanding stats get rejected than accepted. Nothing personal. Just numbers. I was concerned perhaps there had not been good college app guidance if your student only applied to top 15 and was possibly going to end up empty handed. If there is an option that has become a maybe (deferred), then work it. Send updates, communicate interest. Doesnt always work, isnt always recommended, but nothing to lose.

DD did receive word she is in at Berkeley today. Out of state. No regents or chancellors, though. She received an email which told her to check her portal.

email send out same time or by sequence?

@grandscheme Did your DD get any grants, or other scholarships under financial aid? My DD is also out of state, got in L&S today, with no regents. Not sure how we can afford it. Under financial aid, there is about $6000 of grant, that’s about it. But tuition & fees are about $64000. Does anyone know if in March the school will offer more aid?

@Laketahoe79 : This doesn’t mean anything. My older daughter got regents with a 2170 SAT (old scale) while my current daughter did not make the cut today with a 1570/1600 (new scale). Both had impressive grades/scores/awards/internships etc. It’s wholistic. So they have a reason why they select each person. Impressive stats are not the whole picture. So don’t worry. I’m sure when regular decisions come out your daughter will get into some good schools. My current daughter got one good early action so far so no big deal she didn’t get regents.

@grandscheme . Thank you for your kind words.
