UC Berkeley - Class of 2022 Applicants Thread

@chicalmom Thank you for that! I’m still assuming that not submitting an LOR must look pretty bad though because I did not go that extra mile which could have helped my chances

Hey I am freaking nervous I just found out my teacher sent in my LOR LATE! She was working really hard on this and submitted it “just right on time” but her internet was down that day an it was failed to be sent and she made it up the next day but it was already late…
My stats: UC GPA: about 3.9. SAT 1420. SAT 2 Math 770, Chemistry 740 Physics 700. I have 9 AP courses and one college course over the 4 years. Now I have 1(3), 1(4) and 2*(5)on AP exams.
Great LOR (just it’s late. Rip) solid essays and activities. 100 hours of volunteering, a paid job at mathnasium, USABO semiFinalist, Bio league Captain, Varsity Sport and Orchestra…I looked at my school’s Naviance and Berkeley really has no particular pattern in acceptance.
Can anyone chance me?

@JaqueBear

What’s your high school class size? Normally, how many kids does Berkeley accept from your high school? What’s your class rank?

@StevenToCollege our high school doesn’t rank. I think there is about 300 kids in my class and Berkeley usually accepts 20 every year from our school. I know someone who got in with similar stats as mine though.

to those that got Cal Regents’, where else have you applied/gotten into?

@collegehopefull12345678 Since no one else has responded, I will help you out. I am not the best example because my stats don’t match up with the top 1-2% of applicants, but I guess it shows that anything can happen. I am an in-state student. I have a 4.0 UW / 4.69 W GPA and a 1450 on the SAT. I applied Undeclared/Pre-Haas.

Applied (Alphabetical Order): Cal Poly SLO, CSULB, Georgetown University, Indiana University Bloomington, Loyola Chicago, Northeastern University, SDSU, Santa Clara University, University of Arizona, UCB, UCI, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UPenn, USC, UT Austin

Accepted (Alphabetical Order): Cal Poly SLO, CSULB, Indiana University Bloomington, Loyola Chicago, Northeastern University, SDSU, Santa Clara University, University of Arizona, UCB

Rejected: UT Austin

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask any other questions you may have!

Guys, I know that y’all are very anxious…so am I. But we really do need to keep calm, and now more than ever. So please, please try to contain your anxiety. Everything will be fine. :slight_smile:

when exactly are the UC Berkeley decisions going to be released

@mofro1 I think its march 29

The portal says “on or before” March 29.

@ugradbiz were you applying to any special program at UT Austin? Cause with those stats and all the other schools you got into i woudlve thought it was a safety

@Jagomexpr UT is weird. If you attend a public school in Texas and are top 7% then you get automatic admission into the university. For UT 90% of the class comes from Texas, leaving 8% out of state, and 2% international. People who think UT is a safety often get rejected or put into their cap’ed program. I know this as I’ve seen many instate friends get cap’ed from UT and admitted to ivy leagues.

Sorry. I know this thread is about Berkeley, but just wanted to clear that up.

is UCB coming out on the 23rd or the 29th? I read somewhere here that UCB comes out the Friday after UCLA (and ucla comes out tonight)

@fizzymangoes The 29th, per the email they sent all applicants who weren’t admitted early. Straight from the horse’s mouth. Approximately late afternoon, or early evening PST.

Rejected from UCLA College of Engineering, applied to Berkeley as LS, last hope

does anyone know how many applications ucb received this year/will the acceptance rate be lower because of increased number of applications

Rejected from UCLA :confused: should I give up hope for UCB?

No, I got rejected from Northeastern University which has a higher acceptance rate than UCLA but got accepted to UCLA.

I got waitlisted for Ucla, do you think I have a better chance for UCB? I heard they’re more holistic I have low sat scores

@noel334 I hope so! My S got waitlisted at UCLA too but I thought he had strong scores, just not the tippy top.
