My GPA is 4.6 W and 4.0 UW, SAT 1310/ACT 30, in state public hs, and a lot to write about in my essays. I applied into CNR and so far have not been asked for LOR and I applied on the 15th, hoping its a good sign.(?)
So I realized on my UC Davis app that I imputed May 1st for all of my ap dates and not the actual date. So I reported it to Davis and now I am trying Cal. But when I tried to log into my account to see if I can update them in the portal it was down. Is it bad that I put the wrong date?
@person2000 I feel like they’ll understand what you mean since AP exams have set dates, but if it were me I would still try to change it if the portal is up soon since it could look a little careless.
I don’t think that’s your fault. I think the application only asked for AP exam Month/Year, so if you entered May 2017, it becomes 05/01/2017 in the final PDF. Not a problem at all.
Thanks @bogeyorpar !!! I got scared there
All of my letters of recs are completed, now the wait…
My kid has his application in. And now we wait. He hasn’t been asked for a letter of recommendation. (He’s applying to the engineering school)
Could someone please chance me?
OOS
Indian male trying to do computer science and math
- ACT: 35, 36 superscore -GPA: 3.6 unweighted, 4.18 weighted (had a rough freshman year)
- Subject tests: 800 math level 2, 790 physics
- APs: 5s on physics 1, calc bc, physics c mechanics, comp sci A, statistics and a 4 on physics c e&m -Pretty good essays. Not amazing, but not terrible -Decent teacher recs, nothing super special -Captain of the school track team, did it for all 4 years -Wrote a manuscript over the last summer which is currently under review
just a question bc I keep hearing different things from multiple sources: do we send our first semester senior grades before or after admission decisions come out?
@iris126 after decisions come out
@iris126 If accepted, you’ll send your final transcript. No senior mid-year report is sent unless you are one of the few that gets the request for mid-term grades.
Hey all, I had a quick question regarding majors. I originally applied under the EECS major, but I decided I wanted to swtich out of that and into the regular L&S Computer Science major, reason being I’m not entirely sure if engineering is my calling and I want the chance to explore my options a bit more. Is there any repercussion toward my application if I switch? I know you’re able to switch all the way up until January 31.
I would think the switch may increase your chance to get in given that EECS is so competitive. I may be naïve, but I still believe AOs are trying to get us IN, not OUT. If you remove yourself from an ultra competitive bid, you are in a way helping them to get to Yes to you.
Did anybody else get an email about Global Edge? Is this a good sign?
"You applied to UC Berkeley because you’re ready to take on the world. If you’re admitted to Berkeley, consider joining a select group of freshmen global scholars in the Global Edge London program. Global Edge London includes a study abroad opportunity for incoming freshman students. Admitted students who select this enrollment path will start with classes during Berkeley Summer Sessions 2018, and will continue at the University of California London (England) Study Center for the 2018 Fall semester.
In just one summer and semester, you will complete most Breadth Requirements and start your Berkeley experience with a global perspective.
Students selected for Global Edge will have access to:
Exclusive events for global scholars
Financial aid (if eligible) for summer and London
Guaranteed campus housing upon return to Berkeley Spring 2019
Leadership opportunities in the area of study abroad
Priority consideration for future Berkeley Study Abroad programs
For more information and to be considered for the program, complete the Statement of Interest by January 5, 2018."
@harvard2026 This is pretty cool! i think it’s a good sign! What major did you choose on your app?
I got that as well so I really hope so haha
@Camchar88 I applied for CS in L&S
@harvard2026 CS as computer science or Cognitive Science.
@harvard2026 Got that email too. It’s just another college marketing thing
@harvard2026 Actually, a better question might be whether anyone didn’t get the email. (And make sure you’re checking spam, that’s where it ended up for me)
