I agree with @twinmomhell, which explains why just the people who received the FA email received the apology email: the string of emails for the FA blast was already created, so it’s easy enough to blast to that string again. And, my S did not get the first email, or the apology email. I agree it’s damage control, and what they’re saying by “not final” might be that not only the FA recipients were admitted, and possibly they will add more FA recipients to the list between now and 4/29. There is hope, but for my S I am skeptical as I think even with a Stafford loan he would have been a recipient of the first email.
Argh. Good luck, all. We all have a big week ahead of us, and Thursday will be upon us before you know it.
My daughter didn’t get the email, however she was accepted to UCSB and qualified for aid there.
Because she received an offer of aid from UCSB, but didn’t get the email from Berkeley, I’m assuming she didn’t get in to UCB.
I am curious though; if you received the email, what is your major?
@YoungOne4 I so wouldn’t worry about your son not getting the original email. At least 200 kids from my kids school applied to Berkeley and about 30 a year get in, only 7 got the email that we are aware of. I really do think it was a “small batch” of students that got it and they are so many more acceptances that will come out on 3/29 for sure.
Guys please don’t worry. Those of you who didn’t get the email still definitely have a chance. It was a “leak” which means only a bit came out. I’m just more stressed because I got the email and since people are saying it doesn’t mean you are accepted
I think without doubt we can say that people who received the email got in. It’s more the people who didn’t receive it - like me - that I’m worried about. ughhhhg
@Yaboical My kids are super stressed now too, it sucks for sure, they should’ve let it alone and not sent the second email and addressed it on social media that it was a small leak and apologize and reassure everyone more yeses are coming. I just cant comprehend why a FA email with your name on it would be queued up to release isn’t an admittance, can you??? I choose to trust it, my girls refuse to. We will all find out in 5 days.
UCSB UCSD UCD all had early leaks this year too…how or why I don’t know, but it happens. I think there are A LOT more yeses coming, or this will be the smallest admitted group in history. If a ton of people got the email this site would be blowing up, it appears to be a small group.
Not sure if this helps, but my S applied to UCSB and did send in his FAFSA forms. He did NOT receive any kind of preliminary email about financial aid from UCSB but was admitted when the official portal update was made. Ultimately, he did not qualify for any kind of financial aid for UCSB. So if you don’t qualify for financial aid and you didn’t receive an email, you may still have a shot if UCSB is any indication.
@Twinmomhell You make a very good point. If ALL admits got the 3am email, this thread would be WAY more active than it is now. On other threads, when decisions come out there are easily a couple hundred posts in an hour. We’re not seeing this amount of activity here right now. I’m so looking forward to all this being over. Way too much stress and anxiety for all.
I don’t even have a clue what will happen to my decision since I am an International student (These E-mails are directed towards US Citizens), all I can do is pray I guess XD @Galbanus
“Congratulations on your admission to the University of California, Berkeley!
You are encouraged to review your 2018-19 conditional offer of financial aid on CalCentral. Every student receiving financial aid at UC Berkeley has a CalCentral account, which can be accessed via MAP@Berkeley or by using your CalNet ID.”
I got an email but im pretty sure I got in, just an accidental leak
