We did not receive it. Maybe it’s only sent to in-state student? Or applicants to certain school, such as L&S?
I didnt get it… but two of my friends did get it ( P.S. My friends and I are international applicants)
My theory is having student study abroad first will ease the burden of having so many students coming in at one time. Classroom space is limited plus most students try to study abroad at some point anyway. With that being said Global Edge is a way for Berkeley to split the freshman class into two groups fall and spring enrollees. The perks or wonderful and I would consider this amazing opportunity. But that is just my theory 
@harvard2026 I got the Global Edge email, too. I’m in-state and applied undecided/arts and sciences. Has it ever been mentioned on prior threads?
Global Edge is limited to newly admitted freshmen in College of Letters and Science, Natural Resources, or Haas Global management. So only applicants to those degree programs get the email. Seems like a great program.

No. Mid term grades are not submitted unless specially requested for an augmented review. It’s not very common.
does Berkeley offer full ride merit scholarships or half off tuition based on merit? I am out of state and not in great need of financial help so I’m assuming that I won’t be getting need-based aid.
Are they still sending requests for LOR? I haven’t received any, just being inquisitive.
@18college1111 , according to many experts on CC, UCs don’t give need or merit based scholarships to OOS applicants. The bright side – your full-pay status makes you more desirable (again, only rumors.)

@harvard2026, for what it’s worth, last year my son did not get a LOR request, received the Global Edge email, and was waitlisted (ultimately accepted). He’s now a freshman at Berkeley in L&S as a CS major. My friend’s daughter received the LOR request, did not receive the Global Edge email, and she was accepted.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought when you get accepted through L&S you couldn’t go directly into CS?
@vhsdad You are correct, you need to maintain a minimum 3.3 GPA average of a few CS courses in order to declare the major.
@tasmom I submitted my app on nov. 30th and have not gotten neither a global edge email nor LOR request. Is that bad?
@harvard2026 Out of state applicant did not receive that Global Edge email. Program looks interesting. Seems they are trying to plan to have folks to fill slots due to attrition from the fall class. Smart planning.
@tasmom Seeing you know 2 people who got into UC Berkeley, do you mind letting us on some of their stats, like SAT scores and GPAs? I applied this year and I’m scared and anxious to know my results. Would be nice if I could compare it to those who got in. (I applied to L&S CS and received an email about LOR and Global Edge)
