@dowzerw I’m out of state and I got the Global Edge email but haven’t got requested for LOR
@ballin2022 Our school automatically sends LORs so they wouldn’t need to request those from me.Does your school wait?
@dowzerw Nope but I’ve heard that the UC app automatically weights your gpa based off the classes you input
Took almost all APs offered but my school doesn’t weight APs or honors so that would be sweet if UC does. @ballin2022
@dowzerw: UC’s have their own GPA calculation regardless of your HS’s policy.

If in-state, you can look up UC approved Honors/AP/IB or DE courses that will give you the extra Honors points in the calculation. If OOS, only AP/IB or DE courses will count for the extra honors points. UCB will consider your capped weighted (8 semesters of these courses) and fully weighted (unlimited semesters taken 10-11th grades).
Also regarding LOR’s, if you UCB does not request any LOR’s from you, they will not be considered even if your school sends them.
I just googled Global Edge, accepted students have to be 18 yrs. old by August 10, 2018 so for those who have later birthdays like me are not eligible. Tyat’s why we didnt get an email.
I turned 18 last month but have not received the email yet. So I guess age isn’t the only criteria.

FPF Berkeley is available to students admitted to the College of Letters and Science
FPF San Francisco is available to students admitted to the College of Letters and Science
January Start is available to students who are admitted from the waitlist.
Specifically for Global Edge:
To be eligible for Global Edge, you must:
Be a newly admitted freshman in the College of Letters & Science, College of Natural Resources, or Haas Global Management Program
Be 18 years old by August 10, 2018
Hold a valid United States or European Union passport at time of registration (must be valid through May 1, 2019)

@Nealthakker Well, now I’m nervous. 
@happygal2017 You only get Global Edge if you applied to certain majors/colleges. I think Letters and Science gets it but not college of engineering.

@coolguy985 Nope, I’m an international student. And no, I haven’t received a request for LORs yet.
I got the Global Edge thing e-mail as well. It’s probably geared towards certain majors/programs, imo.
I didn’t get a LOR request yet, but if I get one, is it a good thing or the latter?
I think they should be coming in Jan/Feb, possibly.
Yeah @coolguy985 is right. They only send it to certain colleges so i just think it is a promotional message
@cxprus no the requests should come now as the last day to upload recs is 1/15/2018
