Since I haven’t seen a thread for waitlisted applicants, and considering there are many in the same situation, might as well create a thread for discussion.
I’ll start!
International engineering waitlisted, rejected from UCLA. Didn’t apply to any other UCs
Does anyone know how to write the love letter? I am so nervous…
in-state l&s applicant waitlisted
In the past 2 years I believe it was 35% chance. Be sure to write how much getting in means to you. Also include your current status, grades, AP, any new info that may help…i.e. job experience. My daughter got in last year and she ended up rooming with waitlisted kids. Unit 3 mainly are waitlisted. Don’t give up hope but focus on the U chosen and admitted to for now.
In-state, college of chemistry waitlist
I’ve read that the past two years that the acceptance rate from waitlist is roughly 50%! Will you guys be filling out the additional essay?
@AnxMom2021 Actually rates were about 55% past 2 years. check the CDS
Out-of-state. Applied to School of Engineering for CS. Waitlisted, rejected from UCLA. Accepted to UC Davis and UC San Diego, and didn’t apply to any other UC schools. Working really hard on my waitlist essay, and really hoping I get accepted!
I did. I base it on:
Offered 3760
Admitted 1340
You based it on number who accepted the waitlist.
Waitlisted for Psychology
In-state
Probably gonna work on my essay, lol. I think I also have to email my counselor asking her to email me my transcript?
In-state. Waitlisted for Applied Mathematics and Physical Sciences. Rejected from UCLA. Accepted to UCSB. Waitlisted to UCSD AND UCD.
Should the essay be a letter of continued interest type thing?
In-state. Waitlisted for Mathematics and Physical Sciences. Accepted to UCSD and UCD.
Submitting the essay. As I do think it will be helpful.
OOS - waitlisted EECS
I really hope I get admission as its been my dream school for over half my life haha and I had a lot to update them on.
OOS. Waitlisted for L&S CS.
I heard UCB does waves of waitlist acceptances; is this true? if so, is there any way students might get off the waitlist before May 1, or will we definitely have to accept another offer first?

@nightrainlily I think the first wave of waitlisted applicants will be notified on May 2nd. Deadline for opting-in is April 18th so it would make sense that they review applicants between then and the national decision day on May 1st, at which point they will know how many spaces are available.
International, waitlisted L&S as an Economics Major
OOS waitlisted for CS. does anyone have specific numbers for CS waitlist admissions? I am worried that because their CS program is so competitive, not many accepted students will decline.
1540 SAT, 34 ACT, 4.75 WGPA, 4.0 UGPA.
My second semester grades aren’t great. Is it possible to get off the waitlist without sending updated grades?
@nightrainlily did you apply to EECS or L&C CS? Because if u did the latter, what you applied for shouldn’t matter because technically all applicants are undecided to L&S
