UC Berkeley Comp Sci L&S: To Declare or not to Declare

That is the question. What maximizes my odds of acceptance? I've read on some sites that it's better for
acceptance odds to put down undeclared. Or does it make no difference to declare Comp Sci straight away
or wait until second year to declare?

If you apply L&S for Comp Sci, it’s like applying to ANY other major in L&S. No specific requirements and doesn’t make it harder.

Berkeley L&S does not admit by major.

Ok thank you. I had heard that L&S does not admit by major. But then I was just puzzled because they give you the option of saying “computer science” or undeclared (or many others) in the UC My App. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t shooting myself in the foot by putting down comp sci ("oh no - not another comp sci kid. Where are the Ancient Aramaic majors this year?) My essays kind of say comp sci anyhow. Not sure if Undeclared would have been believed in any event.

The difficult Comp sci major (for admissions purposes) is in Berkeley’s EECS
