I've gotten 2 C's in my high school 'career' so far (I'm a junior now)..a C in freshman geometry honors (no grade bump), and a C in this year's first semester AP U.S. History...my first semester GPA this year was 3.84 weighted w/ 3 grade bumps...

should i give up any hopes for berkeley? or should i tire myself out spring semester, get a SUPERB gpa and a mindblowing SAT score?

Sorry..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Or you could get a 2400, list on your FAFSA that Berkeley is the only school you are applying to, and say that you'd have to go to community college if they don't accept you.

Well, a C isn't great, but weighted it translates to a 3. No possibility of bringing it up? Also, does your teacher change grades after the AP test? At my school, if we get like a C or a B in APUSH, but we get a 5 on the exam, the teacher will go back and change our grade to an A. It's pretty cool. (I know many other high schools do this, too.) Also, freshman grades don't count.

But does your school change grades after AP tests? I have a B in USH right now (fall grade), but my teacher said that if I get a 5, she'll change it to an A.

Berkeley (and all the UCs) don't count freshman grades when determining admittance--and they don't consider senior grades either. Just sophomore and junior year.

However, they can recind your acceptance if you get a lot of bad grades senior year. One C probably shouldn't hurt you, but more will.

I just re-read your post and realized you are a junior, not a senior. So, yes the C will really hurt you. Just do as well as you can in all your classes and shoot for at least a 4.2 Weighted GPA and probably they will ignore the C.
