Hey everybody, well, I was recently admitted to Berkeley College of L&S and was aiming for the Econ Major however I haven't done Calc 1 or 2 and have only completed Business Calc. I know that you have to declare for the major during your first semester and was curious if I'm going to be able to do that considering I have 2 semesters of Calc to take. I was also wondering if Business Calc would be able to replace Calc or count for at least one semester? I'm so confused :(

There are two routes that you can take for the math requirement for Econ at Cal, Mathematics 1A - 1B or Mathematics 16A - 16B. I’m not sure about the school that your are transferring from, but Business Calc 1 and 2 satisfy the requirement above. Additionally, you’ll need to take a stats course there, Statistics 20, 21, 21X, 25, or upper division equivalent, if you haven’t already done so.

Berkeley economics requires with Math 1A-1B (calculus) or 16A-16B (calculus for business majors). Check [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org) to see what the course you took articulates to.

Students planning to go on to PhD programs in economics should take a lot more math.
