UC Berkeley - Economics

Does anyone know the average GPA for econ @ Cal?

Also, how does Berk Econ compare to UCLA Biz-Econ?

From what I hear, Berk Econ is much, much better. I'd like to hear more opinions though.

hi ! i'm applying to transfer to berkeley economics too !

well you heard right..theres not a lot of room for discussion haha u answered your own question, dont look for opinions and no, nobody knows the average GPA for that specific major but it is one of the most popular ones for transfers so expect to need around a 3.6 to get your foot in the door, unless you have stellar ECs

I'm a prospective Berk Econ too~
lol
Well, it is true that Berkeley's Econ is better than UCLA's ECON.
however, i can't quite compare between Berk Econ and UCLA's BIZecon.
They are quite differently approahced.

While Berkeley's Econ course follows the typical economics curriculum, UCLA's bizecon follows more of a mixed econ and accounting curriculum (considering the fact that more than half of BizEcon courses are accounting courses).

Really? Just a 3.6? I thought it'd be a little higher...
Well I'm not complaining.

Good luck, Waryap and Dhl3. Maybe we'll all get in. That'd be great.

goodluck to you too !

Well...i hope so. I'm applying as international transfer, so chances aren't that great

lol i mean honestly, how could anyone here tell you an accurate GPA when theres no stuff about it out there...i just threw 3.6 in the air...i suppose most of those admitted have a higher GPA but i mean...if a 3.5 gets your foot in the door for berkeley, and if econ certainly isn't as hard to get into as haas, then its only logical for a competitive gpa to be around 3.6 maybe 3.7 and above

I'm sure it's higher than a 3.6.
I mean, Berkeley's Econ program is among the top in the nation, and even UCLA's ECON prog has average GPA of 3.78 or something...
I'm sure Berk's is at least a 3.8.

see:

all we can do is guess.....so to answer your question, nobody KNOWS the average GPA

and in comparison to ucla, they're two dif programs, but i suppose econ at berkeley is more 'prestigious'

good luck
