This is so unprofessional for them to shift the date arbitrarily without notifying
right I was kinda shocked though
The thing is that, when I look at last year’s thread for appeal, most of them got result on 6.7. So I was wondering if there were people who already heard something back from Berkeley last week, cause those were days on which the decision normally coming out.
Right. I have no idea what’s going on this year. I just wanna know the result asap
I don’t wanna be stressed out any more…
I asked on Twitter regarding the Jun 17 date:
Replying:
Thank you for your patience while we looked into this. There is an error on the portal. The correct date is July 1, NOT June 17.
Which means the struggle will not end until july 1.
If we were to get in, you guys think we would be deferred until the spring semester? With it being so late, I doubt there will be many classes/housing options available unless everything is handled in July. I haven’t really looked into all that.
I don’t think so. For convenience, they may require all transfer students to register in fall. The question is, what is the date for transfer students to register.
@jonathaanv I’m not completely sure. I have a feeling that depends on the department our major is in. Because some transfer students request a fifth semester, which would be a fall semester, and that would be their last. Meaning, spots will open up in the spring since they won’t be there for the spring semester. Again, I’m not completely sure. But it would make sense if it worked like that.
I wouldn’t mind to be a spring transfer if I am accepted. At this point, it would be ideal for me because housing options are shrinking for fall transfers right now. If I was accepted, I would figure it out, but I know its going to be hella stressful. At least with a spring transfer, we can have more time to figure everything out and prepare. Which means much less stress. There is already too much stress right now with not knowing where I’m going to go two months from now.
The homepage of my MAP portal no longer says I will be notified by June 17. They changed the date to July 1.
Here is another reply I got from them them regarding rolling basis responses:
Decisions can be released on a rolling basis. But all transfer appeals will be notified by July 1.
Mine too.
@BlackDragon209 yeah I agree. Spring wouldn’t be bad at all. Housing isn’t that big a deal for me because I live only like 20 something minutes away from Cal, but classes and financial aid worries me.
What school did you SIR to for the time being? I want to stay in NorCal so I’m actually appealing another school for late consideration to stay near by. I feel you on the whole not knowing where I’m going to be. I have all my stuff set up for UCLA, but I’m still waiting for the yes or no from these schools.
@jonathaanv UC Merced
They have again changed the vital date for us to consider… I am not quite sure if they are willling to accept any applicant off rejects…
Wish you all the best, man.
Yes, that’s so weird. This haven’t happened before. At least nobody talked about date shift in the appeal thread for 16’ and 15’
Guys, I just got the email announcing the delay officially.
Just go an email from Berkeley about the change:
We know you are anxiously awaiting our response to your transfer appeal and we appreciate your patience. We are writing to ask for your grace as we will need a little more time to review your appeal request. Although we recognize that your portal stated an ambitious response date of mid-June, your Frequently Asked Questions on MAP@Berkeley noted that we would respond no later than July 1, 2017, which is the more accurate timeline. While we still plan on getting back to you with our final decisions before the end of this month, it will likely a little later than what was posted. Again, we thank you for your patience and we look forward to getting back to you soon.
