All I can say is wow… amazing. But I have to agree with talebi818? How do you have time for over 400+ hours of community service as well as well as an internship as well as your 1.5 years of work AND full time at school?

Please enlighten us because I’m also curious and would like to do the same. I have no time to do as much extracurriculars. In fact, I quit my job to take 20 units at school.

The community service I’ve been doing since my sophomore year in high school, and I never said I worked full-time for 1.5 years; I worked roughly 16 hours a week but sometimes as much as 25 hours a week. Some people go to school full-time while working 40 hours a week, so I’m not sure what’s so hard to believe? I can understand if you’re envious talebi but no need to call me out like that like I’m a liar.

haha thanks! I really hope I do get in, but I’ve seen people with better stats get rejected in the past so I’m still quite nervous. The 29th can’t come soon enough!

No disrespect at all shinra and I know its possible to have those stats, but I’m letting you know if they do ask for some proof, can you deliver cause judging by the school work and amount of real work on top of you being 18 during time is impressive so they might actually ask.

And I’m not saying you can’t deliever but if a couple of kids on a forum can spot some suspicion, then admissions might. And again I mean no disrespect I only say what I’m saying because IV seen lots of stats exactly like yours. Almost exact parallels.

To answer your question, yes, I can provide proof of my work, internship, and volunteer time. Heck, I could even provide letters of recommendation from all of them if they asked for it. And I know you say you mean no disrespect, but I can honestly sense your insecurity/jealously as a fellow Haas applicant. It’s a little obvious.

@shinra - wow. That’s amazing… Dude with those killer ec’s why didn’t you apply as a freshman? Total respect for you, but I want you to know that admission officers are only looking for ECs from after high school. Two Cal reps and an admissions officer told me that. Good luck with your admissions though! From your attitude about society, I can tell you will totally get in!

Hell yeah I’m insecure. You’re competition so I’m definitely gonna press you for anwsers. And hell yeah I’m envious, I wish I was 19 and a stunna.

Take my jealousy as a sign of my competitive spirit and not an insult.

@xcaliberse
Well most of my ECs are from after high school. The only significant thing I listed from my high school days was the volunteer time. I applied as a freshman to the College of Engineering but got rejected. Go figure. :)

@telebi
From what I hear, the competition at Haas is intense. gonna be damn fun if we both get in.

I have a good friend with a 2.98 gpa applying for berkeley, ucla, uc davis, ucsc as an anthropology major.

Major gpa: 3.4

Her EC’s are
working at the transfer center at her Community college, volunteers at the share institute for austistic kids. She was diagnosed with celiac disease and that affected her performance at school.

What are her chances for getting into berkeley/UCLA?

3.2 isn’t required for UCLA, they just suggest it to be competitive. I know people that in with sub 3.0 GPA’s last year for seriously unimpacted majors. It’ll be tough for Anthro though, even though it’s not impacted.

Applying to Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD(TAG)
Major: Pure Math
California Community College Applicant
GPA: 3.49
IGETC: Will be done by this spring
Prerequisites: I got a B in Calculus 1, Calculus 2, and Discrete Math. I got an A in Calculus 3 and Differential Equations. I don’t know if it helps but last semester I took Discrete Math, Differential Equations and Calculus 3 at the same time. I am finishing up Linear Algebra this semester.
EC: Tutoring Math
For Berkeley I will have finished all math prerequisites and for UCLA I am missing 2 prerequisites: Physics and another science class.

@Fandie and ella89, my friend also added in her application that she was taking care of her sick mother as well who unfortunately passed away last week.
