UC Berkeley Fall 2016 Admits, Waitlists, and Rejections

@Mont2LA made a similar thread for UCLA, so this will be following suit.

The purpose of this thread is to post your admission decision and stats ONLY. This will give future applicants an uncluttered reference to view the stats of admitted/waitlisted/rejected applicants. I will ask everybody on the UC Berkeley Fall 2016 Transfer thread to post here. So please refrain from general discussion posts - feel free to freak out as much as you’d like in the regular UC Berkeley Fall 2016 transfer thread (I know I will).

Here is an outline to copy/paste and fill in:

Accepted/Waitlisted/Rejected? (don’t copy/paste this part - please put your decision at the top of your post)

Go bears!

How would you know that uc Berkeley already received my appeal? When I go to my portal, it doesn’t state if they have received it already. And when are they going to release their decision?

@ilovefriedchicken I answered your question in the UC Berkeley 2016 Transfers Thread.

Friendly reminder, this thread is NOT for any questions about the admissions process. Feel free to head over to the main transfer thread to ask questions, or make a new thread. The link is in the first post.

How else is he supposed to spread the word that he loves fried chicken though?

I filled the application completely, no missing slots for extracurriculars, work experience, etc. Plan ahead and get the experience under your belt so you can put it on the app. Obviously keep your grades up. I have a lot of difficult life experiences in my past, which I didn’t dwell on in my application but mentioned in order to display my strength, perseverance, and abilities. Let yourself shine in your essay–they only have a few minutes to review your app, so show them who you are in an honest and raw way. And don’t be afraid to brag about something that’s worth it. There’s no room for fluff in the essays, so make every sentence count. They want to know that you will succeed at Berkeley, so structure every idea in your essays with that in mind. Consider your objective and write accordingly.

GPA is a very important factor. Also complete as many prerequisite courses as possible. Finally, the essay (personal statement / personal insight questions) is also an important factor!

There were over 19,000 applicants to UCB vs. over 22,000 applicants to UCLA this year (for fall 2016). These schools are a bit unpredictable (ie. you may get accepted at one or another or both. Of course this also depends on what major you choose).

Overall, it was a interesting/exciting process. I think the only weakness would be my GPA. Maybe more extracurriculars would have helped…

No matter where you end up going, remember that going to these universities is only ONE out of many steps you take toward some career you are pursuing. So, I would like to end this post with a quote
