UC Berkeley Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Lol, miswrote that. Still waiting

@blue99 I’m in the same boat as you! I applied to their film major with a 3.9 GPA, but I feel that my essays weren’t good since I wrote them last minute…we’ll see what happens.

Just got an invite to Cal Day through TAP. any idea if this means anything?

@gokingsgo1999 Yes girl! I’m a Global Studies major(or I will be if I get accepted lmao)

@whostolemycookie I got the same email! Unfortunately, I don’t think it means anything about acceptance chances, because mine came to the email address I used as a TAP student, rather than the one I used for my UC Application.

@whostolemycookie probably not, I also got the email and Cal Day is open for everyone (even little kids). Here’s the website with all the events by time. I’d still try to go if you’re interested in attending.

https://calday.berkeley.edu/events.php?calday_category=&calday_time=&calday-text-search=&view=browsebytime

@noir0neko UGH FINALLY!!! I found a global studies major!! Is UCLA your top choice? It’s my top choice but I’m a little worried abt my GPA and I totally waited until last minute for my personal insight questions so I’m a nervous mess?

@whostolemycookie @not2cool4schoool @DaemonTargaryen i got a cal day invite last week on thursday. i didn’t apply with TAP tho so the invite was sent to the email i applied with. do any of you think it means something? i know everyone is invited to go but i just thought maybe it might mean something to get the invite

I received the invite too but I don’t think it means anything. Not sure…

@solostrn Tbh anything could mean something lol. I get what you mean. Maybe go to last year’s thread and see if anyone got TAP invites and if they happened to get in?

I haven’t received an email yet. Were we supposed to get it by today?

Also are there any bio majors here?

i received two cal day invites. the first i got last week and the second was today from TAP. i thought that was odd since i didn’t complete my TAP forms but they still sent me an invite

Hi, it is super late but thought I’d jump onto the thread :stuck_out_tongue:

Weakness : Too many credits attempted in foreign country, a gap in education and some irrelevant course works presented.

Essays:

  1. General : I showcased my broad interests in both sciences and humanities by stating that my family had worked in medical fields for generations and that I sporadically worked as a performer on stage/camera.

  2. Creative side : I shared my experience on stage back in South Korea, how acting had influenced me to be a better person, and how I plan to continue honing my creative side through it.

  3. Greatest Talent : I wrote about my ability to absorb languages, how it was a sacred and fun ritual for me to convey the culture and spirituality embedded in each foreign languages, and how it would be useful prepping for intended majors.

  4. Brag about yourself : I said that I had a green thumb and that my nurturing energy applies to those around me, which will benefit and help thrive the communities and the student bodies in UC campuses.

Good luck to everyone

@solostrn which Tap forms? I’m also in Tap but I don’t remember any forms but maybe I’m blanking …

@Ohm888 Looking back at the past forums it seems like the time after decisions are released is absolute chaos haha! Can I ask you to give some insights to the process for accepted students? It seems like you have to put down a deposit in order to sign up for classes, go to some event at Berk, etc? And is housing still not guaranteed for transfers? I know this is so premature because I have no idea if I will even be lucky enough to get accepted to UCB but I figured I would try and ask beforehand rather than in the middle of the craziness haha.

Major: Economics
GPA: 3.9
Major GPA: 4.0

Previous University out-of-state

@toronto99 i got the invite on thursday and yesterday.
@StudentAgain by forms i mean the HTP completion form, I didnt submit it on time so I couldnt use TAP
i was just wondering about the first cal day invite i got though. did you guys get that last week? or just the TAP one

As far as fees goes, there is a deposit ($300 IIRC) for SIR (statement of intent to register), an non-refundable application fee for housing ($30), and a deposit of $300 for acceptance of a housing contract. Nothing else really until school starts. Not sure if housing is guaranteed for transfers or not, but I think a good number are accommodated for their first year.

You will also need to turn in evidence of health insurance coverage, or buy SHIP health insurance for yourself. Immunization records are needed. You’ll need to turn in your final transcripts from all your schools that you attended in college and in HS (for HS, the HS has to send it via sealed envelope if they don’t have some paperless methodology). You’ll need to have College Board send to UCB any AP results that you wanted the school to know about. Also think about what username you want for your berkeley.edu account. The name is non-changeable (this is actually one of the first things you do after your acceptance).

There is a Cal Day on April 13. It’s an Open House. Even though the announcement on acceptances won’t be until after that, you’re welcome to go.

The Fall 2019 schedule just came out on classes.berkeley.edu. You won’t be able to register until end of July, but you can do some planning. Berkeleytime.com is very useful for looking at historical class enrollment patterns and historical class grade distributions. You can register for summer sessions already (once you are admitted).

@solostrn I’m also in TAP but did not complete any forms…what’s the HTP completion form?
