7 more days until we find out if we are golden bears
@bruins8clap it’s been such a long wait, I’m excited to finally find out.
@Ohm888 Haha just realized I was looking at the “Class of 2019” reception from 2017 cause the page was titled “2019 New Student Receptions”. At least those receptions had resource fairs
Thanks for the info.
I finally found the page for this year’s transfer reception if anyone’s interested. It isn’t listed on the Berkeley events calendar, the transfer center calendar wouldn’t grant me access to view events, and it didn’t come up on any of my searches until I put in “welcome transfers”
https://transfers.berkeley.edu/classof2021
This definitely isn’t comparable to Cal Day in any sense… it’s only hour and a half long, no resource fair or tours listed, and definitely no “VIP” fanfare lol. But I guess it’s something!
@willowstil I’m glad they have something for the transfer students, however, when I click on the link to RSVP it says the event has already reached capacity. Will they not provide enough room for all of the admitted students who wish to attend?
@ashleymp Good catch! I’m wondering if they just haven’t opened the registration yet and that’s the default message? It doesn’t make sense to have opened the registration since no transfers have been accepted yet… Or maybe they had it open and people RSVP’d prematurely, which would be an oversight on Berkeley’s part, since it’s only for admitted students.
@willowstil don’t we need to go to a mandatory orientation if we get admitted?
@GoodAfternoonSir Yes, I believe so. That orientation would be in August after move-in. https://orientation.berkeley.edu/once-here/orientation
@GoodAfternoonSir Golden Bear Orientation is mandatory: https://orientation.berkeley.edu/dates-and-deadlines
@willowstil Did spring break start for you? Mine started today and will end on the 21st. I’ll basically be waiting and waiting for the decisions. Maybe I’ll binge watch a tv show or something to kill the time
@GoodAfternoonSir My Spring break was last week but I worked the whole time lol. I’m so glad I have new classes to distract me, I would be agonizing even more than I already am if I were you! If you’re looking for some good binge watching, Sex Education and Santa Clarita Diet are both solid
Santa Clarita Diet!? Ewwwwwwwwwww lol. I could barely watch the first show due to all the blood and cannibalism yuck! haha.
I guess I could binge watch futurama or the office again. I’m not feeling like playing video games anymore. I do have work to do over break so I could do that to get my mind off things i guess.
@willowstil I love Santa Clarita Diet, it’s soo funny. I’m glad you have someone going to Cal Day with you. If you do end up going alone, send me a message and maybe we can meet up.
@ashleymp When’s cal day? is it after getting admitted?
@GoodAfternoonSir No, I wish. Cal day is tomorrow.
@GoodAfternoonSir Haha guess you don’t like GoT then! But yeah it is pretty gnarly. The X-Files is my favorite binge watch.
Unfortunately no, Cal Day is tomorrow, April 13th and there’s no other transfer specific one, just the brief reception on May 4th, as far as anyone knows (hopefully they announce at least a resource fair for transfers but Idk how likely that is at this point). A couple pages back I was talking about how it kinda sucks that admitted freshmen are getting the “VIP” treatment and transfers are kind of getting disregarded but it just be like that sometimes.
@ashleymp Thank you! I appreciate it. What time are you planning on going? I think parking will be tough so I’m going to try to go early. I don’t feel like dealing with BART haha
@ashleymp @willowstil I find it really odd that cal day for transfers in on 13th and not somewhere after or on the 19th. The least they could do is hold Cal Day on the 20th? I mean that’s just one week later whats the big idea? Lol this is very strange to me.
@GoodAfternoonSir I think they do it this way to reward those who will be attending Cal for four years instead of just two. They make a lot more money from the freshman students.
@willowstil I’m not sure what time I’ll be there. I was thinking around 11am but it depends on which event I attend first. Do you think the area will be really tough to navigate by 11am? I’m not sure what the crowd will be like. If so, I may attend early and then drive to SJSU’s event afterwards.
This is kind of late to be asking this, but when I was a senior in high school I applied and submitted my SATs and everything but now that I’m transferring, the portal says that they received my SAT scores that I took in 2016 on 1/28/19. That score isn’t that good, does anyone know if they can see it and use it against me?
@Skiamvaulter I listed 5 of my failed ap scores from hs on my application . I listed them for transparency and you end up having to send transcripts to them anyways and they will end up seeing. It shouldn’t be an issue if your gpa in Community College is great. It’s your cc track that matters not hs. If a school seriously uses that against an applicant I wouldn’t want to go there anyways. Haha hoping for the best!
Does anyone know where to get those flags with the school on it? I wanna get one for wherever I end up transferring for my room
