@capacapa I’ve heard a lot of stories like that too so I believe it
@capacapa I had a similar experience (with trying to form study groups). I transferred to UC Berkeley last fall and came back to cc this past spring so I could transfer somewhere else. For anyone seriously considering UC Berkeley (or any school for that matter), I highly recommend actually visiting the school and talking with different students in your major. That way you can get a feel for what the school is like and if it’s a good fit for you. I was looking for a more friendly/collaborative school and UC Berkeley is more of a every person for him/herself place. That being said, I didn’t experience anyone trying to throw someone else under to get ahead. I think the experience varies a lot depending on what your major is/which college you’re in so I’d visit first (if you haven’t already).
@capacapa @stressexpress @AndrewH90 @anne123456789 @gokingsgo1999 @nickidreaming If I could do it all over again, I probably would have chosen UCSB over UCLA and UC Berkeley. I think the main reason I didn’t was because I never got to go to Gaucho Transfer Fridays (which you guys should sign up for since you’ve already been accepted to UCSB)! I couldn’t go because all the days were fully booked and I was wait-listed. The secret is, they’ll still let you in anyway so if they’re full the day you want to go just sign up for the wait-list and show up that day.
@CalBear1998 I was in the College of Engineering. Even there though, it depends by major. The EECS students I knew were more friendly/collaborative. ME, not as much.
This thread is so quiet lol, but 3 more days fam!
has anyone been able to make a calnet?
@toronto99 nah, can you?
Smh, didn’t expect this much encouragement on here
@toronto99 I did
@ecksdee no I couldn’t
@2dwayne3904 how were u able to make one? i didn’t know which option to choose in the drop down menu when it asks for the type of student
@transferrrrrrcc and @vedavit Yes! ?
@cloud7 I recommend you to transfer to private university. Public university like UC will all feel same to you, which will all feel like him/herself. Private university tend to have more care to each student since the size of the enrollment is much smaller than the public universities.
@2dwayne3904 How did you make a calnet?
this clown is HERE RN! pay for their tuition too
@Godletmein101 I would have but I couldn’t find many with good financial aid/engineering programs. Do you know of any?
How were you able to get into your calnet?
Anyone know how claiming the berkeley.edu email works? can you pick the handle?
hey does anyone know what exactly makes a major impacted? I am confused because I applied to Society and Environment at Cal (last year 34% accepted) and it is not considered impacted. However, I also applied to sociology at UCLA (last year ALSO 34% accepted) and that major IS considered impacted. If the acceptance rates are the same, why is one impacted and one not?
@CalBear1998 Yes, you get to choose. I think most people go with the first letter of their first name with their last name.
