UC Berkeley Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@ucdochopeful2k19 if the major is in College of Letters and Science and you checked IGETC in application, it must be full IGETC, not partial. However you can also do the breadth but I believe that’s an extra year of language over and above IGETC that must be completed by end of this spring. I’m not sure about that. Someone might have a definitive answer re the breadth part.

I’m a 37 y/o “returning” student. Any other more mature students impatiently awaiting tomorrow’s decision?

@bendestraw not I, but good luck. Always good to see non-trads. ?

@bendestraw I’m 38. Wait is driving me crazy. My kids are tired of me talking about which city we might move to in summer.

@Not2cool4school good luck!!

Thanks, @Ohm888!

@Ohm888 awesome! Thanks for the info! Do you know if I didnt click IGETC if it is still a must? Basically, is it possible to be accepted to a letters and sciences major without a full IGETC? I guess I’ll find out tomorrow ?

@ucdochopeful2k19 I’m sort of on the same boat. I think we’re able to complete breadth instead of igetc but I don’t remember the exact details. A Berkeley TAP counselor did look over my application multiple times and I think I remember her telling me I was fine but I’m not too sure anymore. I guess we will find out soon!

I’m currently studying abroad in Hong Kong and it’s already April 19th over here and I freaked out!!

@omojimin hey! im originally from hong kong! but yeah my parents are there and theyve been asking all day lol

@ucdochopeful2k19 you don’t need IGETC but I’m not sure about the language part with the breadth. You need both English and quant math — and I think that extra language level.

I suppose if you’re rejected and it’s because of GE, you could appeal noting you’re taking final IGETC in summer. Kind of a long shot but you never know.

@Ohm888 thanks again ? I appreciate it!! I’ll know within the next 24 hours!

@omojimin Lol tell me about it I’m in China rn and it’s so freaky thinking about how the decision will be literally the first thing I see in the morning tomorrow.

its 2am and i can’t sleep because of decisions omg its rlly coming out today. im freaking out but at the same time so ready for it to be over

@lizzyyykkk I feel ya

@dwayneee, Im from China too! but as I know international transfer applicants are always at the bottom of the UC admission list because of prerequisites and admission policies.

I am rejected by UCSB. I called and they told me they think my current English courses do not meet their prerequisites. but the funny thing is they do not even ask for my course descriptions. all they knew about my courses are course names…

I guess UCB would have the same problem. whatever see what will happen tomorrow and wish you good luck.

I’m living in Korea rn!! Even though the 19th is almost over for me I’m pretty happy that the decisions will probably be out by the time I wake up :slight_smile:

@davidchenyf I think UCs just have a quota of how many international students they can accept and it really isn’t about the prereqs. Sorry to hear about that but as long as you checked with counselors at your CC you should be fine for the other schools you applied to. Thank you for your kind words and good luck to you too :slight_smile:

@Left_hand I don’t think they do yield protection for transfer students. UCLA and UCB have the highest yield rates at 60%, which each other school being under 35%.

HI GUYS! Please help

So I am a transfer applicant from CCC to Cal and Im majoring in interdisciplinary studies. I only need to take 2 course from my cc as pre reqs. I just noticed from assist that I needed to take course in world region last minute ( a week before announcement), I am taking it right now on my cc but i wasn’t able to update anything on my application ( I called bu they say it was too late and we just have to see the result). what do you guys think about this? will Berkeley rejectsme completely?

PS. I took all pre reqs from my cc from the other course eventho they only ask for one (will this do anything for me?) and my major gpa for this course is 4.0

PPS. Iam an international student from CCC does Berkeley maybe look this as something to “substitute” the world region course?
