UC Berkeley Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Rejected
Major: Geography
GPA: 3.93
AA-T: No
IGETC: Yes
Pre-reqs: Finished last semester
Status: CCC transfer
EC’s: Tutored 2 semesters of a phys geog lab, 30 hours at h4h, volunteered as a little league ump for a few seasons, some other small stuff

Very surprised because my GPA and EC’s seemed really good for my major. I would’ve had to have lived with extended family if I went to Cal so at least I avoided that ?

Help please… #1275

Rejected :frowning:

Major: Art Practice
GPA: 4.00
Credits: 103 quarter credits within 2 years of study
IGETC/TAG: n/a, out of state – I did carefully follow the equivalent pattern of IGETC courses to the best of my ability. Even took higher level majors courses to create a challenging course load (e.g. majors bio as a distribution course)
EC: Student Gov’t (President), part-time job, Editor-in-Chief of College Newspaper, created a club, volunteering, PTK (honor society), 4+ years of photography business.
Essays: Honestly, 7-8/10, this was my first application, and I was not as prepared as I could have been. That said, I still think they were quite strong.
Accepted (so far): UCSB, UCSC

I don’t understand why except that they likely reached a quota for OOS CC transfers already.

ADMITTED!
Major: MCB
GPA: ~3.8
IGETC: Yes

Is there an fb group for admitted transfers 2021?

Hey does anyone else not have their cal grant showing in their award? Trying to figure out if it will later be added?

Major gpa 4.0
Major: philosophy
Ec: lots of volunteering experiences and working full time with kids while going to school full time as well.
Transfer from a CC in state.
Finished IGETC
Finished all philo courses that were given at my CC but none were at assist.org so I don’t know if Berkeley counted them.
“Hooks”: Non trad.
Wrote essays about leadership, volunteering, how I found philosophy in all aspects of life, being small and moving countries. People said my essays were written really well and I spend about 3 months working on them.
I think my GPA was too low so I was kinda already expecting being rejected but still that letter hurt.

I applied to UCLA, UCSB, UCI, and UCR. I didn’t hear anything back from any other schools, so I am slightly anxious now.

Congratulations, I am the same major and GPA 3.87, but I got rejected.

@californiatopaz do you think that means it will be added? Can anyone else comment on this that knows?

Wife of transfer student reporting in for stats.

Accepted!!!

Major: Pure math
GPA: 2.X overall, but 3.81 from CC only.
Hooks: returning student

I didn’t think my husband would make it in honestly. Low GPA, only EC was tutoring. Plus, he’s not URM and both his parents have graduate degrees. (I did think he had amazing essays- not because he had any struggles to overcome, but because my husband is an amazing writer…not biased at all :p.) But, I’m happy for him.

Congratulations to everyone.

@Smoothassilk you go to SMC? Me too
Also congrats!

Waitlisted
