@Chez59 - I’m telling you what I told my son this morning before results were posted by Cal (he got in): whatever happens, I’m proud you, how hard you worked to make yourself a viable candidate.
You got into UCI - a great school. If that’s where you end up - that’s awesome, and feel blessed. The reality is that getting into ANY of the UCs (excepting Merced, but not for long) is a difficult task. The competition is sky high. The UC system is the best public university system in the world and is reasonably affordable. The competition is only going to get tougher for freshmen and transfers alike.

Hi I have a question for those who are admitted: my offer only said I was placed into LAS but did not specify my major. Does anyone have the same issue?
@HopefulUC1453 , Thanks for letting me know. But it’s sorry and weird that you got reject from UCB. Did you finish taking all the prerequisites courses right?

ECs: honors program, black student union (vice president), anthropology club (secretary), associated student government, worked as a peer tutor at my cc for anthro and soco, created a model united nations club at my high school, an internship at a law firm, internship with USD’s summer program for first gen students, and lots of volunteering in my local community.
i’m sure my personal statements are clearly what got me in but i hope this helps!

First year student, with 40 AP semester units, 17 semester total in summer and fall, and 15 currently. 3.82 UC gpa, 4.0 major prep, work a corporate job, did extensive volunteering in high school, reused essays from freshman application, IGETC complete, major prep complete, honors for UCLA TAP complete. Honored, but will choose UCSB most likely if I don’t get into UCLA over UCB

Is the film major in Berkeley an impact major? I got accepted in CNR and want to double major in film. I emailed CNR and they said I could as long as film is not an impacted major.
