UC Berkeley Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@cs123456 You should check with your Berkeley admission counselor. It might not affect your decision, but all changes to your class schedule are determined on a case-by-case format.

I personally don’t think it will! But you should check with the institution to be sure! Get that peace of mind.

i see, thanks guys! also, there was one condition under the update form that says “I will have not met/will not meet the UC-transferable 3.0 minimum GPA requirement in Winter 2019 and/or Spring 2019”. Does this mean I need a cumulative 3.0 GPA or I have to have a 3.0 GPA for that specific quarter? so if i get a 2.7 gpa for one quarter but my cumulative gpa is still above 3.0, did i meet the requirement?

i actually emailed my admission counselor few days ago but haven’t heard back anything from them so I’m super nervous right now.

@cs123456 you may want to call admissions to ask your question. I’m sure this week will be a really busy time for them with all the Apr 19 invitations that they undoubtedly are dealing with.

@makemeabear that’s what i thought but they said it was supposed to there already. they were just student workers though but she said she went and asked someone.

@cs123456 I got accepted too and I ended up dropping a course from my winter quarter. I talked to an admissions rep and they said that as long as it was not a major prep course and/or does not affect your IGETC you should not worry, but definitely send in ur update before may 10th

well, there goes UCLA. Wondering if I can get some real answers about the housing issues at Cal. What would I pay if I didn’t want to live with roommates?

Does anyone know when Cal will notify the people who got regents?

@milktea1121 - Being an international student probably was the con in your app. 90%+ (I believe) of transfer admits are CCC students. I’m sure with your grades and ECs you have some great options. Did you get in anywhere else?

How do we know who our admissions counselor is? I also dropped a course early this semester and I already filled out the form for it.

Any admits want to connect on FB or social media? I’m on the FB transfer admits group!

@misseskite im also wondering this. is it possible to get a single room and how much would it cost?

They have all of the housing options on their website. They have the different apartments/dorms and they have the single/double/etc. occupancies and costs.

what did eecs strong recommended courses you take?

Sorry this is late…been super busy and haven’t posted in awhile.

Admitted: 4/19/19
GPA: 3.92
TAP: Certified (Although, this is the UCLA TAP)
IGETC: One last course in progress
Pre-reqs: Finished last Spring
Honors Program: Completed
ECs: Law intern, Worked at REI the lion’s share of my time at CC, and I now teach intro climbing/mountaineering courses.
Essays: Not certain, I was too self-conscious to show them to anyone, but I suspect they were decent.

@nontraditional
Maybe, I had like 6 counselors look over it and one close friend so I was feeling pretty confident in them.

I made an appointment with a transfer counselor to try and figure out the viability of an appeal so we’ll see what the next step is.

Anyone know where can We take Cal ID? It is too hard to take photo by myself because of their restrictions on the photo.

I need help lol. I got admitted to Cal buttt for Spring 2020. I’m confused about this mainly: will I be able to take major upper div’s the semester I transfer? Or will I have to wait until I’m accepted into my major? If so, how long will it take me to graduate?? Would it be better to go to UCLA since I will be admitted this fall directly into my major? I took 3 years to transfer from CC so waiting for Cal is like… ahhhh. Not to be ungrateful!

Here are my stats:

Major: Anthropology
School: Pasadena City College
GPA: 3.63
IGETC: Completed
Pre-reqs: Finished except missing one for UCLA
Essays: Apparently pretty good! Well written but not particularly exciting.
ECs: Not many! Really just went to CC and work every day.
Work experience: Worked full time as a receptionist, nothing special.
TAG: UCSB
Admitted: UC Berkeley (Spring 2020 tho), UCLA, UCSB, Cal State LA
Pending: UCSD
Rejected: SDSU (lol)

When is Regents awarded? The notification and will we see that in our financial aid package if awarded?

what kinds of restrictions are there? My kid simply did a webcam selfie on his computer. And he has one of those silly Dell XPS laptops where the camera is by the keyboard so you get a good view of your nostrils.
