UC Berkeley Fall 2020: Transfer Thread

I think UC Berkeley admission decisions are going to come out next week.

@munchenca Yes! UC Berkeley Transfer decisions are supposed to be on next Friday, April 17th.

I hope I get in, I wonder what my chances are. They look promising but at this point, it could go either way.

I know this is youā€™s guys  thread, but as a mom, we get excited too! My son excitedly, expectantly, just said yesterday that his fate will be known soon. Cal is his top choice (unless some other school unexpectedly makes some crazy offer), and if he gets in it is (mostly) a done deal. If he doesnā€™t, then itā€™s choosing among the others, all good too, which will not be as clear/easy a decision. Iā€™m just eager to get all the decisions so he can make a final decision already!

Good luck yaā€™all!

Hey guys! Decisions are coming out soon, good luck to everyone who applied!! I know this is pretty late to post my stats, but if there is anyone who would be kind enough to chance me I would greatly appreciate it. I have been so anxious about decisions for months now lol.

@natiscaffeinated is your 3.7 GPA after or before fall grades?

Has anyone received any UCB emails? Like an invitation to apply for scholarship??

I withdrew from a class due to Covid-19 (a lot of others in the class also dropped because interpersonal communication skills and public speaking are hard to do via Zoom; even our instructor was having trouble determining how to proceed). As such, Iā€™m now at 59 transferable UC units, and Iā€™ve received some pretty vague answers from Cal admissions. Iā€™m hoping they let me take the class (or any class that will give me that one unit I need) over the summer if I get in, but Iā€™m not counting on it. Even if I get in, I might not be able to go.

Does anyone know how the UCs usually handle this sort of thing? Not that having oneā€™s entire course load switched online in a matter of days is ā€œusualā€ā€¦

Iā€™m am really sorry that is happening to you @theladykatie ! That is really hard to answer, given that these are extraordinary times. Still, consistently my counselors always said that even missing one unit from the 60 units needed to transfer ends in either the school rejecting you or rescinding your application. Hopefully, you will be able to make your case, however, especially given the current situation in the world. I hope everything works out!

Only one more week until UC Berkeley decisions!

@theladykatie I donā€™t think UCB is going to be as understanding as you might hope. If the professor had chosen to cancel the class entirely then that might be different. But you choosing to drop a course bc its hard to do via Zoom will likely not be a sufficient reason for admissions to grant an exception. But I wish you luck!

@uctransfer2020 excited? lol Good luck

@SatanFlower69 Just happy there is an actual date already - it is very frustrating waiting for all of the ones that donā€™t give us any insight ahead of time as to when we should be expecting the decisions to come out.

@uctransfer2020 understandable. It was nice of UCB to have an actual date on the portal from the start vs some vague statements like by April 30 or late April. ? totally get it

@theladykatie , sorry, but Iā€™m with @SatanFlower69 . You couldā€™ve stayed in the class and chosen to take it P/NP; that they are allowing without prejudice. As to how dropping that one class will affect you would be determined by whether or not it is a REQUIRED class. My guess is your decision will be whatever it was going to be, and what you need to be concerned about is an offer of acceptance being rescinded. BUT if itā€™s not a REQUIRED class, I think you may be okā€¦

I also really appreciated UCB having a countdown and announcing it on their Instagram page, unlike other Universities that kinda just focus on freshmen applicants. Makes me feel cherished haha

Its probably a minor detail to most but I also thought it was nice to see transfers mentioned on IG. I think only three out of the nine universities I follow has posted about transfers so far.

Someone on reddit said they got an email saying their calnet got reinstated. anyone else get anything interesting?

Iā€™ve been so anxious over college decisions lately and Iā€™m glad I found this thread

Good luck everyone!

It was hard in that I do not have a webcam or microphone, am sharing an ancient computer with everyone in my house, have no income, and am a student with a disability without access to disability services at school anymore. Iā€™ve spent every day of the past month emailing and calling people at my school, trying to access resources, and every step of the way was told nobody could help. I did everything possible to ensure I didnā€™t have to drop that class, so itā€™s a shame that Iā€™ll be penalized for it anyway. But oh well. I guess Iā€™ll take a one-unit yoga class in the summer, work FT this school year, and apply again for Fall 2021.
