2018 and 2019 were posted to the portal at 3 PM, but who knows, it could be different this year
@theladykatie I hope you the best on your journey, I dream of entering the higher education field myself! Best of luck!!
Youāre correct. Ugh, I should not attempt to communicate with the outside world while my children are screaming in the background. Shelter in place is fun!
That said, @theladykatie, try Foothill! Much easier to get into courses and you can search by open ones as well!
Hey, I go by Jellybean online! I am a second-year currently at a California community college. Here are some stats about me.
GPA: 3.93
Credits: Finished IGETC for UCs and will have 60 units prior to transfer, and 16 of my units are Honors classes
Major: Data Science, alt: Either Statistics or Mathematics I am not sure (completed TAP)
Work experience: currently in an internship for CS programming scheduling and inventory software for my schoolās Makerspace, however, I started it in February so it is not reflected on my application. Previous to that, during my first year (starting in September 2018), I worked at Starbucks, but quit April 2019 to focus on school.
Extracurriculars:
- Volunteer at HS VEX robotics tournaments as Judge Advisor/Referee (or did before the Stay At Home order)
- Participated in President/Student Leadership Forum
- Participated as a Peer Mentor for one going on two semesters.
I am unsure if I will get in, however, because I have not taken Differential Equations for the statistics major (which I would have this semester but I had a couple of things happening that would have prevented me from doing so (before the whole virus thing) and would have probs dropped it anyways due to the switch to online classes) and when I looked up the requirements, it mentioned that I needed to take some CS classes which I believe my school mightāve offered, but ASSIST.com did not have articulation for so I was unsure if the class I would have taken would have covered those requirements. Either way, I am excited to find out if I got in or not! Almost 4 days from now we will all know!!
I noticed some people got a reinstated email in regards to their CalNet/MAP login, does anyone have an idea what that could mean? Does it indicate chances and/or admission? I did not get one so I am worried it is a bad sign.
Hey guys, I am SUPER nervous about my decision, I honestly feel like it could go either way and I really need some advice! Here are my stats:
GPA: 3.6/3.7
Major: English
Strengths: I have 3 AA degrees earned from CCC in only 3 years, Girl Scout Gold Award, Certified Health Coach, tons of volunteer experience. I have taken tons of English classes so my major GPA is probably higher but Iām not sure how to calculate it!
Work experience: I worked at Starbucks for 2 years and I have been working as a health coach for about 2 years as well, but I have also published some articles online and in health magazines. Stricly non-fiction personal experience so far.
Essays: I talked about my volunteer work and a rare chronic illness that I have dealt with my entire life incuding 13 surgeries and how I have used my experiences to help others in the chronic illness community.
Weaknesses: Obviously my GPA! Additionally, I have a W, and 3 Cās which are in math. ab psych, and Philo.
Ultimately it is a toss-up because I have a lot going for me but a lot working against me so I am very unsure of my odds! I am a third generation UCB transfer, with my mother and grandfather both transfer grads. Obviously, though legacy doesnāt mean anything. Please help!
I hope everyone is safe and sound from the mentally debilitating Covid-19 outbreak. I would really appreciate your input on my statistics.
Private University: Ranked Top 50 according to USnews.
GPA: 3.45
Major GPA: 3.68
New SAT: Perfect Score
Sat Subject Tests:
- Mathematics level 2 (800)
- US History (800)
- Literature (720)
Stellar recommendations from two professors.
Did not apply for financial aid
Work Experience: I worked in bunch of companies as an intern. An active participant in numerous extracurricular activities in college.
It has been extremely agonizing waiting for the results to come out. Iām just glad itās almost over; Berkeley is a great institution and I hope we all get the results we want.
Thank you.
@flygaaaaaaal basically, this means your CalNet is renewed (since it expires after some time). If youāve not been previously enrolled at UCB and donāt have an existing CalNet, it is impossible for you to receive this email.

You did not share what your major is, but realistically I donāt think you have a great shot at UC Berkeley. The 25th to 75th percentile GPA range for admitted students last year was 3.65-3.95 which your GPA is pretty far below. (Check here to see the GPA range for a specific major: https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major) Also, UCs have so many other students who are already ahead of you since they prioritize transfer applicants from California community colleges, then UC students, then CSU students, then students at private colleges in CA, and finally students from out of state colleges. Additionally, SAT scores and recommendation letters are not considered as part of the transfer admissions process for UCs.

Your GPA is really not that bad; it is within the 25th to 75th percentile for admitted English majors last year which is good. I think you have just as good of a shot at getting into UC Berkeley as the rest of us. Good luck!
@uctransfer2020 You would be surprised I know someone who got in last year with a 3.2 UC Berkeley is somewhat unique in that they donāt value GPA as much as schools like UCLA they look at other factors as well.
I cross-enrolled for a couple of semesters a couple of semesters. Mine expired in September 2019 and never got the email.

a couple of years ago*
@ryancorddavid I got the email through my Berkeley email. I also cant access my Berkeley email anymore for whatever reason, weird because my affiliation shouldnāt have expired for awhile.
My Calnet also gave me a new FASFA task for 2020, i havenāt sent my fasfa yet, but other then that I havenāt noticed anything else that could be indicative of anything. dont worry if you havenāt gotten anything this is just mindless speculation.
Having your account re-instated and receiving the reinstatement email is not indicative of your admission to Cal. I read somewhere (on reddit) of some prospective transfers who received the email a few days prior to decision day but got rejected. We only have 3 more days until official decisions come out.
@bubonica I looked up the thread you were referring to and noticed something interesting. The poster was also admitted.
āas soon as they are admittedā¦students must also be added to the Directory.ā and I noticed I was already in the directory without having signed up for summer session again. If youāre reading this and havenāt gotten anything dont worry/read into this to much most applicants dont get any potential leaks!
I also have four addresses on my portal.
Hey everyone! Iām applying for chemical biology with a 3.75 from a CSU! Iām nervous but trying to stay positive! Good luck everyone
Hi everyone,
Iām applying as a Psychology major with a GPA of 3.70 from Laney College. Canāt waittttt!! Iām sooooo nervous.
I wish u all the best Stay safe!!
I wish all of you good luck! Is UCB everyones top pick? Curious. Personally, no. Not really the greatest fit for me but its close to home so I figured why not apply and see how it goes.
Hello everyone. I posted earlier in this thread about how I got the Immediate Response Requested email. I contacted admissions and they said my application wouldnāt be affected (thank goodness) for submitting my response about a month late.
However, this afternoon they requested syllabi from old chemistry lab classes, and I am missing one of them. Iāve emailed the lab coordinator, but I have 2 days to respond to the email. The lab syllabus was basically the same each quarter, with the only thing that changed was the labs being performed in each quarter. Is it worth sending whatever I have and following up with whatever I get from my lab coordinator later, or should I wait?
PS: I assume it was Berkeley who sent the email because decisions are out this week.
