Oh but I didn’t get into Haas. I got into Economics
Oh ok gotcha, I thought you were referring to my most recent question
What do you guys think is the probability that Fall 2020 will be online? I’m trying to decide between schools but this is something I want to consider…I know everything is very in an unsure state right now, but what do you guys think?
@shredder47 did you email Haas about it? I got into Econ too but now I kinda regret I didn’t apply for Haas…
Cal State Fullerton just announced that fall classes will be online, and apparently other Cal States and UCs are still considering their options for fall. Check out this article: https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-04-21/cal-state-fullerton-cancels-in-person-fall-classes-online?fbclid=IwAR1t0n-AWZlcjZH8cFTnwH_SJoeb5xMBt6VO_PGOTx9IIlLDqLaLQhDHPaQ
You can always defer your admission for a semester if you don’t want to pay for online classes! I actually got accepted to Berkeley for Spring 2021 and maybe that’s good considering this current situation…
@gabsPL Its crazy hard for transfers to get into Haas. Its like a 5% acceptance rate. Berkeley students have like a 35% acceptance rate into Haas. Since the odds were so high I decided to just do Econ, which is also excellent at Berkeley. But I’d rather be in HAAS tbh
@shredder47 same here. well, we can always take Haas classes once at Berkeley anyway!
@shredder47 @gabsPL The acceptance rate for Haas is overly deflated. A lot of rejections come from people not able to finish the breadth requirements for Haas or other misc requirements Haas asks of its applications. Once you attend Berkeley as a junior you cannot apply to Haas.
To be honest Economics and Business are not as related as they may seem and If you want to major in business but settle for economics I dont think economics(at least from what i’ve seen of 100a) is the best way to pursue a business education. Luckily a few Haas classes count for upper division credit for an Econ degree but from what I’ve seen they fill up fast.
Hi Pep, I got admitted to the College of Art and Science at Cal, do you know is it hard for students to declare as an Econ major? Thanks.
Nope - Fall 2019’s acceptance rate for Haas transfers is 14%, according to Haas’ website.
109 offers out of 761 applications. In 2018, it was 18%.
Berkeley student acceptance rate into Haas is 33%. 267 offers out of 801 applications.
The reason people mistake Haas for being 5% is because they include the students who were never eligible to apply to Haas cuz they didn’t complete 100% of the major prerequisites but applied anyway.
@Josephill I can send you some of the coursework for 100a. Otherwise I would say that the class is mostly a calc class with applications of economics built into it. and Stat 20 from what i’ve heard is the harder GPA killer for most.
For Econ do we take any accounting classes? Accounting is my passion, but I find economics so interesting too
@mattamania congrats! are you still completing major reqs or were you done by the end of fall term/quarter?
Can I see it too? What class is 100a?
@gabsPL Ya sure, Econ 100a its one of the pre req courses you have to take to declare.
I’ll PM both you guys in a little.
would you mind PM’ing me too?
Yep Pmed.
@Pepsi1022 can you PM me too please?
@cali2good you’re able to change the housing option on CalCentral to see the cost difference between housing options
Does an EW possibly cause an applicant’s admission to be rescinded? Also, why didn’t you try to do the Berkeley course update on the conditions admission page? I’m sure they would’ve understood…
