@eakazantseva finsihed them all in fall
Yes, it is possible to double major as a transfer student! You just have to plan ahead to make sure that you will meet all of the requirements for both majors, so it probably wonāt work if you donāt have all of the prerequisites done already for both majors.
@uctransfer2020 Thank you!
And does anyone know about the Cal 1 card photo, itās one of the new student tasks and the due date for it is 5/6 but the office is closed and how do I do it on my own?
@ttyy099 You just submit a photo of yourself online through the link on CalCentral
After filling out the update form and waiting 1 week, I see that my conditions have changed but I donāt see any messages from the school.
Finally got an update for my form, admission substained
Ok so I know that this might be a really really dumb question just because of how incredibly competitive HAAS is. Iām kind of in a really tricky situation tho so I thought Iād ask anyways.
I got accepted to Berkeley and am majoring in Economics. I had to take Calc 3B online and I really feel like I didnāt learn anything from it. Iām not grasping any of the concepts and Iām really nervous because I need them for my Econ classes at Berkeley. Do you think that there is any way that they will let me switch into Business Administration? I know thatās unheard of, Iām just hoping because of the current circumstances maybe theyāll have some leniency?
Congrats! I had a question on the classes needed to transfer, did you use Assist or the official Media Studies transfer requirement page to chose which classes to take before transfer? Thank you!
Guys, I want to take an excused withdrawal for a course Iām taking this semester, but doing that would drop me to 11 units, which is part-time. Will Berkeley rescind admission for withdrawals or part time status
No, unfortunately, Haas only takes Juniors as incomings & Haas has already closed their application process so you couldnāt apply to Haas until November for the 2021-2022 year. You would also not be allowed to apply to Haas if you were attending UC Berkeley as a Junior. Only UC Berkeley sophomores, community college, & international students are allowed to apply to Haas. Itās not as simple as changing majors. Haas is like itās own separate college within UC Berkeley that even students already admitted to UC Berkeley still have to apply to Haas like everybody else, including essays, extracurriculars, and Haas prerequisites.
You could certainly forgo your acceptance to UC Berkeley & apply in November to Haas but thatās risky. You would also need to complete 100% of Haasā prerequisites for them to look at your application which are double Econās prerequisites however, there is time for you to complete them by next Spring.
Your essays that got you into UC Berkeley just now would have to be completely re-written since Haas essays are very different than UC Berkeleyās essays. Haas requires you to address the Haas 4 Principles into your PIQs.
Email admissions with that question since only admissions are the ones rescinding anyoneās offer. That dilemma is too risky to just do it on your own & see what happens after.
I am a community college student. I havenāt started attending Berkeley or anything. Would it still be impossible?
Hi @Pepsi1022! I submitted my update form today for a class I dropped. I wanted to ask, how did they inform you about your status? Was it through email? Or on map@berk?
I am a community college student. I havenāt started attending Berkeley or anything. Would it still be impossible?
Yes, but the earliest you could apply to Haas is this November for the academic year of 2021-2022 as long as you donāt go to any 4-year college from now until your acceptance into Haas which would be a year & a half from now. You could stay at your community college & finish the Haas prerequisites in the meantime.
Like I said in my earlier post, you would have to decline your acceptance to UC Berkeley & apply to UC Berkeley all over again in November & write new essays tailored to Haas.
@astropp Email! they also updated my actual terms pretty fast after I submited the form. I wouldnt be to concerned.
@econgal1234 If you really want to go to Haas and study business Iād wait another year however If you want to study econ just go now. Just remember econ and Business arent as close as some think.
I updated mine about over a week ago and still havenāt heard back. I think it depends on how fast your admissions officer takes care of it.
have any admits received any emails from uc berkeley on potential webinars for Q&A or school info, and/or any updates about classes for the fall? Other UCs Iāve been admitted have reached out but I havenāt gotten anything from Berkeley.
Accepted!
Major: Cognitive Science
GPA: 3.65
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): MESA, UCLA CCCP, UCB TAP, EOPS, PASS, UCB SPMP, part of a tech group outside of school
Job/Work Experience: Tech summer internship, Personal Assistant, Peer Counselor at my CC, Fellowship at UCLA
Personal Statement: Iāve been homeless, went to 4 colleges and my personal statement is pretty shocking, I had a couple transfer advisors and some close friends tear up reading my story. I have a group of mentees that I help with school and life advice. I talked about my passion for tech and cognitive science, turning my life around and rising above hardships.
School Type: From a CC in SoCal
Gender: 23F
Income Bracket: Broke. I supported myself by saving money from working and investing into stocks. Eventually I got classified as independent and got some financial aid. Got a couple thousand in scholarships too.
Hooks (first generation college, research, etc.): URM, did research at UCLA, was sponsored for a $3k tech bootcamp, I think I have a really inspiring and unique personal journey.
Strengths: I go to a bunch of networking events/conferences and panel discussions, 2-6 per month (pre-covid) mostly tech, URM in tech related. I really took the time to make sure I was in the right spaces and dedicated a lot of time to all my programs.
Weaknesses: GPA not very strong, I had a lot of Wās and have done the bare minimum for Prereqās. Iāve really struggled with math and comp sci courses, getting Cās and Bās. Overloading, had some health issues that got in the way of my courses and got some incompletes during fall and winter after applying.
Applied to Berkeley, Merced, Santa Cruz, UCLA, UCSD, Davis and USC
Got into Davis, Santa Cruz offered me an alt major, Got into Berkeley, UCSD, waitlisted at UCLA, and still waiting to hear from UCM and USC
Applied for Financial Aid?:
Yes, I was offered $31k a year plus work study and subsidized loans but offered $10k less at SD
I really believe that if you dedicate yourself and show what you are passionate about for your future career they will notice you and you can get in even with a lower GPA or non-traditional stats.

They had Cal Week last week which included a bunch of different webinars and zoom information sessions. You can probably find recordings of most of them online somewhere.
As far as information about Fall 2020, this is the most recent update: https://news.berkeley.edu/2020/04/23/information-about-fall-semester-2020/ . It basically just says that they will offer remote instruction options whether or not they also offer in-person classes this fall, tuition costs will remain the same regardless, and they cannot guarantee the on-campus housing priority for new students this year due to Covid-19.
