UC Berkeley Fall 2020: Transfer Thread

@ttyy099 You can switch it to decline if you don’t want to take summer classes. You do have to opt in to transfer edge if you want to take classes at Berkeley this summer.

@uctransfer2020 thanks a lot!

@kaitlynwang Try emailing your admissions counselor, thats what I had to do because I didn’t hear back for a bit. After I emailed the counselor she responded to me in a couple days and then sustained my admission following that.

Did anyone among us transfers receive regents scholarship already? for those who did, when were you guys notified? or has berkeley not released that yet?

@iris17 I believe regents notifications don’t come out until mid-May for transfer students

@erichioro @kaitlynwang dont worry, it took them like 10 days to reply back to me. and they wont rescend you lol, the terms and conditions are there just so people don’t completely give up on school their last quarter.

@kaitlynwang omg im in the same boat as you!! I’ve been waiting for a week and keep checking my emails, conditions of admission, and everything else like crazy. I’m so stressed lol

@unknown1000 My conditions of admission changed as well. I applied for Asian Language Study, and my original condition was to complete JAPANESE 204. And while I was updating my immunization records, I noticed that they changed it to PSY 221 and SOC 292; I dropped SOC 292 earlier in this semester as it conflicted with PSY 221 class. I sent my admission officer 4~5 times regarding my admissions (a couple of different issues) from 04/20/2020, but never heard back until now. I also updated Undergraduate Admission Update Form; I explained why I had to drop SOC 292 and uploaded supporting documentation. I wonder what she will say regarding this situation. It just makes me quite frustrated and somewhat furious IF I did not save my original conditions of admission letter, and could not even prove to keep my admission safe. I already SIR’ed to Berkeley, but all of admission officers are required to respond to the emails by 05/24/2020, I am just waiting for her to respond, and if my admission gets rescinded, I will just SIR to UCLA.

@shredder47 I emailed my admissions counselor 2 weeks ago and still no response. :frowning:

@astropp Who is your admissions officer? Mine is Quincy Jones

anyone else keep getting texts to try zeemee has anyone used it?

and i wouldnt worry about your conditions of admissions tbh i think you’ll be fine.

Does anyone know what happens if i withdraw from the whole UCB summer semester? however, i signed up for two classes, 6 units total, and the fee added up to almost 3k, which is too much for me (my fault for not researching about it before enrollment). If i choose to drop of out all the classes and withdraw from the semester, is it going to affect my financial aids for the next semesters?

@Pepsi1022 ye i use zeemee, they have like a transfer group chat and class of 2022 group chat so its pretty cool. you can talk to fellow bears.

hey everyone!
so i’m in a similar situation dealing with the conditions of admission. i dropped one of my classes, contacted my admissions officer, and she told me that dropping the class wouldn’t cancel my admission. my conditions of admissions page hasn’t updated yet though, so i’m just getting a little impatient. would it be okay to SIR with the not-updated conditions or should i wait to get an official response?

Hi All,

General question for CS or engineering majors: were you able to take CS fully online in spring or did you have to go to campus for any labs? I’m asking for a friend who wants to remote study OOS in fall. Thanks.

Most CS classes are online but in my experience, they have also mostly been trash. If your friend is a self-learner then great but if education is desired then try for as many in-person classes as possible, relegating the online dribble to non-major courses. In fact, this whole semester turned into busy work and wasted time for almost all 7 of my courses.

Praying we have real school for EECS in the fall but I don’t have much faith in Berkely or most CA schools unfortunately at this point.

@lurkernomore i don’t think he’s expecting them to be so hot but was wondering more about how CS works with things on lockdown and online. I’ll pass it on. ?
