This thread seems more believable than the UC’s collaborating with each other on who to admit. Basically it says UCLA is very focused on solely GPA, as opposed to Berkeley who seems to be more holistic.
Does anyone know if the new Connie and Kevin Chou Hall will impact the total amount of accepted applicants? I feel like they would still need to hire more faculty before it translated to any meaningful effect on admissions.
@YoursTruly4ever
I would take the info on that thread with caution. I don’t know how much admissions processes have changed since then, but I’m guessing it’s a considerable amount
There’s no coordination or collaboration between UCs.
Regarding Chou Hall, it certainly opens up the ability to increase enrollment but they’d need to hire quite a few professors to make any real impact on that. For now, it’s just given them more flexibility with scheduling.
They’d also be more motivated to bump up MBA numbers before UG given that the MBA program pays them $50,000 per year whereas UG is just a fraction of that.
As far as Haas goes, it’s listed right on their website. 50% is attributed to grades and coursework, which really isn’t a lot. 35% essays and then 15% resume.
I’m going to do my best to limit checking this thread today, but I was thinking about it and I just wanted to take a moment to congratulate everyone here on taking the step to apply to Haas. It is arguably one of the hardest UC majors to get into, and yet everyone here has chosen to apply. On top of that, the process not only includes the general UC application, but the additional supplemental essay and resume, as well as the interview for some of us.
I must say - that’s quite a bit of work! So give yourself a pat on the back. Stay busy these next 30 hours or so and know that whatever happens and wherever you go, you’ve all demonstrated you have the ambition to achieve greater lifelong goals regardless of what university you attend.
I’m new to these boards and I’m a parent, a CAL alum(Old Blue)along along with my wife who graduated from HAAS from the CC route like all of you. My DD is applying to HAAS and like many of you have stated, all of you should be very proud of yourselves and you should truly embrace the journey you have chosen. It’s a arduous path to take, but as you already know, wherever school you decide to go to, that school will be getting a fantastic student and the University will be honored to have you in attendance because you bring so much to the classroom and your professors and peers will truly benefit from. We did attend CAL day this past week and we were fortunate to have as our tour guide a transfer student, and my DD hit it off with her immediately her guide has been texting her throughout the week offering encouragement and support. GO BEARS!!!
Congrats to everyone who was accepted to UCLA and best of luck to everyone tomorrow!
@GoodAfternoonSir The top right should have a red notification similar to FB. @nitgehhh Not necessarily. From previous conversations, many people have been accepted without interviews.
Does anyone else have the sensation that being accepted to other UC’s just adds more anxiety when thinking about Haas?? Sigh - rest up everyone! Tomorrow is the day and good luck to us all !

The quiet before the storm… Enjoy your last few hours and try to relax. I am personally about to go play some golf and get some lunch and hope for the best. I didnt make the cut for UCLA but I didnt expect much else they are looking for a different profile than Berkeley so my fallback now is UCSD. Good luck to all of us and remember whatever happens everything will be alright!
@GoodAfternoonSir Maintain that GPA, try to get As in the rest of your prereqs and specifically major classes. Start a club at school directly related to your interests and your major. Don’t just do a lot of ECs but do ones that are directly related.
