UC Berkeley Haas 2018 Transfer Thread

@dianelee97 @Ak1097 i have all the prerequisite courses done except for managerial and calc 2 (will do both econ classes this summer online), i was thinking about taking calc 2 my last semester. idk if i should because it’s not my best subject as i have an A in everything except calc. i got an A in stats too. this is my first year at a CC so just wanted to know what to do for next year.

@BLK thanks for the info

@maseratiSB my interview was pretty chill. The questions that were asked were the same ones that were posted.

@dianelee97 Where does it mention accounting as a prerequisite? I’m applying this upcoming round, but I don’t see anything on their website or assist indicating that sequence is required. I would really like to focus on some CS classes…

@neilsola I don’t think that is a smart idea at all. I’m no expert, but I believe they will see right through it.

@thi1998

I’d like to believe that it’s simply a way for them to round out their idea of who we are outside of the essays and applications, and to make sure that we can carry ourselves through an interview (it is a business school after all).

Since it seems most of our questions were similar, I imagine that it would only become a “make it or break it” situation if someone really messed up the interview.

@neilsola As always, take advice here with a grain of salt since we aren’t experts. However, regardless of if I’m admitted or not, I think this advice will remain true:

Stop worrying about your GPA.

People have been admitted with <4.0 GPA’s, and even more have been rejected with a 4.0.

Start worrying about how you can be a good contributor to Haas.

Focus on getting your work done and applying yourself in a meaningful way. There are no short cuts here, and if you’re looking for one, one of the top business schools in the country may not necessarily be the place for you.

I don’t mean to sound harsh, just my two cents I think any applicant can benefit from.

@neilsola but since I realize my previous answer was verbose and didn’t even provide a tangible suggestion LOL - I say take calc 2 AND get an A. You can do it.

Anyone get a Cal Alumni email? People are hyping it up on the UCB Transfer thread

@Ak1097 it was an email discussing a scholarship but it specifically notes: “This scholarship application is separate from the undergraduate admission process and receiving this message is not a guarantee of admission to Berkeley.”

@kt_ay Just read that. Thanks!

@kt_ay @hopesolo @thi1998 @dianelee97

If you’re taking two pre-requisites or more but still got an interview, then you’re good. There’s nothing you have to worry about. They wouldn’t be wasting time on you if they sent an interview request. If they didn’t send an interview request then idk what that can mean. But I am 100% sure that the advisor who I spoke with said that they prefer that there is no more than one pre-requisite in your last semester. Again, don’t beat yourself up over taking 2 pre-requisites if you already got an interview.

@neilsola I would agree with what hopesolo said. Take advice with a grain of salt. Don’t custom tailor your ed plans just for Haas. Do everything that you want to do knowing that it will still help you even if you get rejected from Haas.

Hey everyone havent posted in here in a while but I got an interview in the first round, questions like what will u contribute and things like that were big. I think the interview went well but judging from all the time slots, the more important part was standing out and not sure that I did that.

I did not get the scholarship email thing… so hoping that doesnt indicate anything.

But im really rooting for all of us here on the thread!!
clearly we all want it bad enough to come on here and discuss it with strangers.

@businessgirl123 hey, my interview didnt go to well until about the last 20 minutes (my interview ended up being 30 minutes). Don’t worry, we all have hiccups. I’m trying not to be too hopeful. Anyway, best of luck to all of us, I’m rooting for all of us, too!

@thi1998 10 mins of so-so interview vs. 20 minutes of it going well - I’d say that’s a good thing! Ending on a good note is ideal, so if you feel that it picked up towards the end then I’d say that’s something to be proud of.

Best of luck to us all!

I really do need to stop checking this thread though, it keeps making me anxious!

@hopesolo Thanks! And yes, my goal is to only check this forum once every other day as opposed to once every 3 hours lol!

@hopesolo @thi1998 I’m with you both… I think I check this thread about 3 times a day even though I know at this point it’s just a waiting game. However T-16 days!

any of you guys do internships?

@thi1998 @kt_ay I won’t lie I check it every few hours now. So weird that I check it more NOW than I did before, even though there’s nothing else to look for!

And not like I’m counting… but if today’s the 12th it means t-minus 15 days :smiley:

Idk if any of you have seen this but hell if I get rejected, this is how I want it to be :))
