If you were doing a) at Berkeley it would take up 40 hours a week of your time (classtime, homework, study) since summer sessions material would be covered at twice the speed. Not sure how long it would take at a CCC but it would probably be fairly close to that.
@stdnt4ever you should choose the course based on your own ability.
This is what I took.
First summer at CCC, I took Accounting 1A 4 units, Public Speaking 3 units and Business 3 units. While working 20 hours on campus.
Last summer I took Calculus 5 units, Critical Thinking 3 units, Computer 3 units, and PE class 1 unit where as work 30 hours.
But I leave all hard subjects for regular semester. And maybe you think it is weird because to me, Polictics is hard, Sign Language is hard, History requires a lot of reading which I only can read carefully in regular summer, etc. Hard to me is I need double time of the units to study for it at home, such as 6 hours at home to study Sign Language 3 units. Easy because if I study for Calculus 5 units, I only need about 2, 3 or sometimes 4 hours per week to study and finish all assisgnments. In summer, you should multiply it by 4.
So through my own experience, I think I will only choose to study in summer on the subjects that I have strong talent so that I can get it done in a very little time.
Because you apply to HAAS, I suppose that you have a good time management skill, I think you should believe in your instinct.
@ProfessorPlum168 @Bibihcmvn Thank you for your inputs.
I am applying to 6 UC’s, but I seriously will only consider UCB Haas, UCLA or UCSD for this fall.
I have decided take linear algebra and calculus III in Summer, ONLY if I can get in to any one of the three UC’s. Otherwise, I will take linear algebra & an honors course to protect my gpa and will apply again to UC’s next year with stronger stats. I have worked really hard finishing 60+ units in 1 year (4.00 gpa so far) while working ~16/hr a week in a medium size retail chains, and whatever the admission decisions are, it’s well worth it.
7 more days and I wish everyone best of luck!!
We’re less than a week away now…6 more days. Ahhhhhh!!
@ashleymp Yup! I’m so excited and nervous at the same time
I think as a whole we are much more nervous bunch than last year lol. I can’t stop dreaming about colleges every dang night! And now I’m gonna have to wait longer than I thought for ucsd and ucla… grrr! GoT is the only thing that can take my mind off it ?
@Trashception Too bad GoT is only one hour of distraction. We’ll still have to get through another five days after that. ?
I’m trying to finish all the assignments in advance for the whole semester because 5/6 classes require to submit the homework online. So if I fail the school I want, I will take a 2-week trip to lift my mood. With 2 absence, I am still ok for the attendance rule.
@Bibihcmvn and if you do get in, take a 3 week trip to Athens and go crazy!
Omg this upcoming week gonna be an emotional roler coaster ride. There goes my heart…!!!
I’m just salty that UCB isn’t the last one anymore. I thought for sure Cal was gonna be the final (and most important) one for me.
@GoodAfternoonSir in case I will be too depressed, maybe I will drop all the classes and just go to CSU
@Iwishforhaas Hope is what makes us strong. It is why we are here in the first place. It is what we fight with when all else is lost!
Stay strong everyone, there are just 5 days left till decisions release!
hoping for the best but expecting the worst
Does anyone know if they will send a email saying you have been accepted/denied or just a letter saying decisions are posted. And also does anyone know at what time they will post them on the 19th?
@idontknow645 I’m not sure what the email will look like but some have said decisions are expected to be released sometime around 3pm.
@idontknow645 your decision will be available to see in your portal and I’m sure there will be an email notifying you as well. Often times the email is a couple hours behind the portal so you can just check your portal periodically on the 19th. It seems that the participants on this forum last year posted their decisions after 5 pm… but this doesn’t mean that this is the correct time or that Haas will do the same as they did last year.
@idontknow645 whether or not the email will have the actual decision idk, however, your portal is your go to.
Thank you. I just don’t want to be caught in the wrong place when the decision come out. Don’t know if I am going to crying for joy or sadness. So we will have to wait and see
